RM Gantt built our house 6 years ago, and also did a renovation this year. If there were a hundred stars, they would get a 100 stars! It was actually fun building the house, their quality, knowledge & attention to detail made this a wonderful experience. We are extremely pleased, and have had no problems. Solid workmanship.
All of the Gantt crews are courteous and professional. We have recommended RM Gantt to anyone seeking a premier builder, and will continue to do so. Thank you RM Gantt!

I wish I could score with a zero star. Beware of RM Gantt, wife, real estate agent, and son-in-law, spec home builder in the Lynchburg area, whose sub-contractors were used for our custom home even against are wishes when we found out because of the poor quality of their work. HVAC, electrical, plumbing, TILE guy--discolored grout (had to stain NEW grout), crunchy under foot, carpenter--huge gaps in mitering of doorways, shelves not level, screws popping through drywall, no finish on baseboard--just a board screwed to wall. Painters--stain slopped on, paint so watered down? that can already see through to dry wall. We had to BEG Gantt's wife, who runs critical aspects of his company, to do cabinets even though already budgeted for and agreed upon in proposal. BEG..literally..PLEASE because she didn't like that we got upset because she promised one product and then into the build changed to a much lesser product! Then, of course, all this comes with massive attitude when you try to express discontent, like when I found them spray-painting electrical and plumbing fixtures in oil rubbed bronze (ORB) when the fixture was to truly be ORB. Don't be fooled..you are at their mercy even though you are footing the bill. There is a book I could write, but hopefully this give you a good idea as to what you can expect, although to get you to the signed contract, all are SO pleasant. Please explore other builders, and at the very least be sure your proposal spells out EVERY DETAIL..if you can think of every detail.who would have though I needed to NOT ORB paint when I said ORB fixtures.
Update:
Now, 18 months after the build of a $680,000 home, the HVAC system does not work! Two local HVAC experts have detailed the issues with the installation. Now, it will cost us between $10,000 and $11,000 to correct the poor installation by Brown’s Heating and Air out of Evington and Lynchburg, VA. They are the HVAC subcontractor for RM Gantt, Lynchburg—our home builder. Neither Gantt nor Brown’s HVAC will correct the issue, claiming the one-year warranty is up, although there was issue after issue during the warranty period and now into the second year. Please beware—reviews for both these companies are created almost virtually by employees and their families and friends. I am in the process of filing complaints against both Browns Heating and Air (tradesman) and RM Gantt (contractor) with their licensure board.

We began our experience with RM Gantt over two years ago with the selection of a raw site for our new home. We walked the property together and had many discussions about our ideas and with their professional experience, we developed the construction drawings for our new home. We worked together on every phase of the project from staking the home, clearing and then the various phases of construction. There were many phone calls and discussions about every aspect of the home and there was a great deal of patience and care from Randy during the process. Rosie played a critical role in “making the house pretty” as Randy says. She helped with all the interior selections of countertops, cabinets, light fixtures, tile and colors. Rosie and my wife have a great relationship and had a lot of fun during this process. We moved in a year ago and really enjoy the home; the detail and craftsmanship are wonderful and much enjoyed - we receive lots of compliments from friends and family whenever we have company. R M Gantt has followed up frequently with visits to our to address any concerns, there were few, and continued to work to ensure we are happy with the home. Thanks very much Randy and Rosie!

My wife and I cannot overemphasize what a wonderful experience we had working with R M Gantt construction. Randy Gantt, Rosie Gantt, Russ Newman, and the whole R M Gantt team were not only professional in all aspects, but a true delight to work with.
After a few contractors declined to take on our job because of its complexity, we got discouraged and questioned if it was the best decision for us to purchase the raw land and build, versus settling for an already built home. Fortunately by happenstance, I met a former client of Randy’s that praised R M Gantt’s work and highly recommended that I contact Randy. By far, this was the best decision we made!
From day one, Randy immediately made us feel comfortable with our decision to contract with him. Randy was enthusiastic and eager to help make our dream a reality. Randy and Russ, the project manager, kept us apprised throughout the building process. They both promptly returned our calls and offered suggestions and alternatives. Randy’s and Russ’ patience with novice first-time home builders was truly appreciated.
We would be remiss if we did not comment on Randy’s better half, Rosie. Rosie understood our vision and with her keen eye for design helped us achieve our mountain lodge. She was able to direct us to sources for lighting, fixtures, wall colors and other interior design details that would have had our heads spinning. She helped with our selections too. She was truly invaluable in this aspect of the building process. Any concerns or misgivings that we had were promptly addressed and resolved,
I think the best recommendation of all is for us to say that after this entire process has been completed, we would not do anything differently as far as choosing a builder, and would definitely contract with R M Gantt again.
Thank you R M Gantt Construction for creating the home we always dreamed of!
