image Wish it had the option for zero stars. I tried to call this morning to be seen. Put me on hold for several minutes; then came back and said she spoke with the rest of the staff, and they said I couldn't be scheduled until my normal doctor came back next month since she knew what all was going on with me. My doctor doesn't know about the current problems I'm having because it started after the last time I saw her, so how is she supposed to know what's going on with me? Not sure what the logic was there. Up until this point, they have scheduled me with other doctors not once but multiple times (often the same or next day) and never given me a hard time about which doctor I see when my normal doctor is out. They just didn't want to be bothered. I told them I was gonna have to find another doctor then. I called back and asked for a manager and who to contact to report the clinic because I was basically refused treatment. I asked the woman's name. She deliberately ignored me, disconnected me while I was still talking, and sent me to voice-mail. I had to unfortunately call again to obtain my medical records and got hung up on. That's not professional behavior. Tried calling again, and they wouldn't pick up at all, so I can't even speak to someone to request my records. The manager called back. I was so angry. I told her I did not want anything more to do with them and did not want to be contacted by them anymore because of how I was treated.

image I adore Misty Basham-Leedy, and the nurses have always been great.
That said, the doctors here are the worst kind of people, even by Carilion's standards, and I can only assume the decline in service I received over the years was due to practice managementm
I was a patient here for 5 years. In that time:
They once forgot to take a urine sample, and once lost a urine+blood sample, both times requiring me to return to the office.
I get tested for STIs between every sexual partner. Once one of my tests came back positive for chlamydia. I had no symptoms. I called my last partner and let them know. They tested clean. I went back over a year, spoke to 4 people in total, tracing back across multiple tests also performed by this office that were clean, and every one of my partners was clean. This was ridiculously embarrassing for all of us, and to have my test be the only dirty one makes me wonder if this office didn't screw up with the samples (as they have had a history of)
Misty once came in with another doctor who wanted to look at my knees, despite not having issues recently, because I've had injuries in the past. I foolishly allowed him to. This utter prick proceeds to wrench my knee around asking "does this hurt?" each time. My knees were fine that day - I was there for a routine checkup - and the one he experimented with I had to take it easy on for the next 2wk.
Since they moved to forcing this MyChart product on me (online portal to communicate and provide me with test results) I no longer received phone calls from the office when there was a problem, and frequently there would be no notice on MyChart either.
Prescriptions over the last 2 years began consistently taking 2-3 business days to be sent to my pharmacy. Previously I could expect if I made a request before noon it would be handled before close of business, and I would be able to pick up my prescription by that evening.
I was living in both Vermont and Virginia for approaching two years, and I maintained my permanent address in Virginia. Misty agreed she could continue to see me as my PCP as I was still a Virginia resident. I also began a new prescription that required regular appointments for screening, which was no issue, and the first of these was to take place in October. When October approached and I had the dates that I would be available I called to schedule my appointment, and I was informed that Misty would be on vacation and attending a conference and that she would not be available during the several weeks that I would be in Blacksburg. I asked what we needed to do about this, and the office told me that they guessed I would have to make another appointment at a later time, despite that I was not due to return to Blacksburg until Spring (I would be traveling during the winter and snowboarding in Vermont)
In December of that year my prescription was denied without warning or explanation by the dirtbags at this office. I received no notification, no contact by phone or email, no message on this stupid MyChart thing, just a refusal to fill my prescription. I had to contact them to figure out what was going on, and they treated me like a scumbag who was shirking my part of the deal to get medication. Withdrawal from medication without warning can be extremely dangerous, and that's how I spent Christmas.
I just moved permanently to Chicago. I asked the office to continue to provide me with my prescription while I seek a new local doctor. My prescription was not filled, and I had to message them to ask why. Some "Keith P Madsen" I have never spoken to in my life sent a snotty response that I would have to find a new office, and lied to me claiming that they have told me to find a new office in the past (they haven't, and there are no previous messages to this effect on MyChart or notes on my prescriptions). When I tried to dispute this he closed my message without a response.
Steer clear: you can roll the dice anywhere to receive this total lack of care.
