image The mathematics graduate program and all their online degrees are advertised as friendly to people who work and study. However, it is far from friendly to anybody quite frankly.
In typical pretentious graduate STEM program fashion, theres a clear culture of just read it and if you dont get it from reading it then I guess this isnt for you. This produces professors who have no regard for teaching because you should just get it.
Secondly, the school is FAR from veteran-friendly. It is a public institution which means that irrespective of what state a veteran is a resident of, they should get in-state tuition. Instead, the school takes careful advantage of Veterans Choice Act wording to only consider active and stationed in Texas service members for in-state tuition. They sneakily work around it with that and only billing the VA the in-state tuition then billing veterans the rest.
I would have loved for Texas to get invaded and ask for active troops so we can say Sorry, Im stationed in another state so you dont qualify for my service. What an embarrassment this school is to Texas and the entire country.
Finally, the program itself is held to no standards. Directions are unclear, weekly assignments and quizzes are prevalent, grading is harsh, the material is only calculative and details no underlying behavior and theory. I have to believe that Im not intelligent or competent because I get a zero on four hour long derivatives with no calculators allowed.
Stay away. The program is advertised as convenient and accommodating to working students but its not. I wont be lectured by the likes of 40+ year old people either on this all I do is forego every possible fun, pleasantry, and the like to maintain the discipline it takes to succeed with this along with my career and life.
At one point I thought Id move to Texas, but after this I will never set foot in that state. No wonder the North is where the opportunity has historically been. Furthermore I will not be returning to this embarrassing failure of a school and I will pursue this field elsewhere at an institution where standards are upheld and accountability is maintained.

We're sorry you have not had a good experience. Please understand any questions about Military Tuition Assistance are governed by the VA and are not part of any policy set forth by the university. The VA guidance states, “As a Veteran or dependent with transferred entitlement, you can get in-state tuition rates at many public schools even if you haven’t lived in the state where the school is located. Once classes start, you’ll need to be living in the same state.”If you would like to discuss this further, we will be happy to connect you with the appropriate people to give you a detailed explanation.https://www.va.gov/resources/in-state-tuition-rates-under-the-veterans-choice-act/

image I applied for Central Texas A&M in March of 2023 and it is now June 20 2023. I have called and called nobody answers the phone. Why does it take so long to hear back from them? I received an answer from the other schools I applied to within 5 days to 2 weeks. Why does it take so long?
