I would like to write a review with the intention of helping parents who have kids on the spectrum while guiding dedicated behavior therapists who are looking for a good environment to excel at what they do. Being a parent with a kid on the spectrum comes with so many challenges. It is not an easy road but I know from first hand that ABA and early intervention help kids with developmental delays to reach their best potential tremendously. So the question comes what to look for when picking the right clinic for your kid. I have worked at different clinics which I was not comfortable with their practices. One of the fundamentals of ABA is to teach new skills while decreasing maladaptive behaviors (if any) by using reinforcement. However I am sad to observe that it is not always the case in some ABA clinics. I am not here to share horror stories but as a behavior technician it is my duty to warn parents to educate themselves before picking a clinic. One clinic I have worked at was making the kids run loops as a form of punishment which results in making physical activities assertive to the kids. There are so many ABA clinics out there and not every one of them on the right track so please be careful when choosing a clinic because your kid is at the peek of learning. At Hello Autism I have never seen such practices. They are very careful about their programming and follow the board ethics and regulations. Kids and their achievements are the number one priority for every individual who works under this establishment. BCBAs are always there to help and provide feedback as therapists run individualized programs. The kids are not always sitting at the table for long hours because their programs allow them to socialize with peers, engage in group activities (art, craft, reading, gross/fine motor practices). The children at Hello Autism have the opportunity to generalize the skill they learn in different settings which I cannot stress enough how important it is and how other clinics I ve worked at were lacking this important step. As the nature of ABA, trials are repetitive and it can easly decrease the work performance of the therapists. Having to work at different settings throughout the day keeps the therapists dynamic and focused. It also adds fun to ABA for both the children and their therapists. The admin side of the clinic always work around your schedule and tries to find best session time for parents’ availability. So there is a good work and life balance. New therapists go through training and there is so much support from older staff and BCBA because everybody strive to maintain QUALITY. There are also general staff trainings take place where everybody gets informed about changes in clients’ programs and regulations. It is such an essential protocol to keep everybody updated and help them to be on the same page to achieve consistency. I have seen so many happy tears over clients’ improvements from the day I have started to work there. It makes my heart happy to say I am glad to work with the people who really care and they are at work to make a change in a kid's life. Forever
