If you are reading this review because Dr Hingorani is an option to be you/your family's PCP (and you probably are), you should choose him immediately and be thankful for small miracles and good people.
Seriously. Schedule a new patient appointment. You can meet with him or the Nurse Practitioner, Ms. Basey-Williams. Either choice is correct.
(Long version):
I was assigned him by default when I changed insurance plans. I had every intention of changing my PCP back to the practice I had been using before. I only set an appointment with him because I needed something simple refilled and had waited until the last minute.
His office was/is not incredibly impressive - not that there is anything wrong with it, it's just a bit sparse and small. The rooms/offices are plenty nice enough but don't expect leather couches and flat screen TVs. It's in a not-so-great (but not terrible) area of town in a small and generic grouping of medical offices. I don't believe there is even a sign.
I was greeted by Ms. Lois, who was (and is) incredibly sweet. Over the years, she has proven to be one of the most caring people I've ever known.
I was expecting to briefly see the doctor, exchange pleasantries, and to be on my way. Again, I had every intention of returning to my previous doctor.
So, when Dr. Hingorani introduced himself to me, I wasn't interested in much besides getting my refill and quickly being on my way.
After assuring me it wasn't a problem, he proceeded to do something I've only seen modern doctors do on TV - he sat down and we talked. Not just about my medical history, but about me. About my past, my life, my concerns, even my family and our future. He was in no hurry (unlike every other general practice physician anywhere). He genuinely wanted to know me. He wanted me to know him. It was refreshing. It was honestly a little shocking.
I was so impressed that I returned to see him. And returned again. And... well, it's now several years later. I would (and have) paid out of pocket to see him instead of just a small copay somewhere else. I choose my insurance based on whether he is in their network.
Something to know about Dr. Hingorani: In addition to being incredibly compassionate, he is very intelligent. He has degrees in chemical engineering and biochemistry from UT Austin. He is (of course) a D.O. He achieved an MBA from Texas A&M while practicing medicine full time. All of this, and he is possibly the least arrogant person I have ever met. He freely admits when he does not know something - but you can be sure he will find the answer.
He does not judge or make assumptions. He treats you as a unique individual. His patients are always his priority.
He works with the wonderful Ms. Basey-Williams (a Nurse Practitioner). My wife sees her for primary care. She is one of the most absolutely wonderful people I know and an excellent practioner. She really deserves a review of her own.
I recently spent a week in the hospital experiencing the most excruciating pain I've ever felt. Test after test was negative. No one (including consulting physicians) could find a cause. After several days of this, there was every reason to doubt me. I was beginning to doubt myself. He did not. He visited me, encouraged me, and relentlessly fought for me. He assured me that we would figure it out. He kept me as comfortable as humanly possible.
And he did figure it out. Now I am at home, relatively comfortable, with an appointment to see one of the best surgeons in the area (through his referral).
Dr. Hingorani is a special type of doctor as well as a special type of person. He surrounds himself and works with the same. I absolutely trust him with my family's health care - a level of trust I've never had with any other physician.
I consider him to be more than my doctor, I consider him a friend.
If you are looking for a primary care/family physician, you have just happened upon one the very best.
