As much experience as he has and as knowledgeable as he is, he still made me feel very uncomfortable during my first appointment with him. His first words to me were “I’m sorry you’re having MoMo twins...” and from there it was downhill. I had been made aware of the risks, and fully understood the potential complications that could arise. I don’t know how many times he needed to smear in the fact that one, or both of my babies could die at any given moment. I tried to keep being positive and he seemed to shut all positivity down and kick it to the curb. When explaining cord entanglement to me he proceeded to spin around jokingly in his rolling chair to show me how one of my babies could potentially end the other one’s, or both of their lives. Before meeting with Dr. Carpenter I had yet to be so hurt and severely stressed out at my appointments. It was overall a terrible, terrible experience. I don’t doubt his knowledge, but he has no bedside manner, and severely broke me into pieces in ways I never imagined possible. I understand the need to be honest and straightforward, but I don’t see the need for the unnecessary, cruel demonstration of cord entanglement while a patient is clearly upset, or telling them that you’re sorry for their pregnancy. My twins are doing amazing and after that appointment it took me a while to let that sink in again. Currently trying to transfer to another hospital completely, as this is Ben Taub’s most experienced MFM doctor.

An amazing Dr and human being. Dr Carpenter is Very knowledgeable and has an extensive experience in the field. He is the best!! You can tell right away he has passion and loves what he does. He doesn't rush with appointments and answers all my questions in a thorough manner. He is very committed to his patients that he is willing to open his clinic on Saturday to see patients without any of his support staff. He did the weighing himself, vitals and dipstick. Also saw him clean and sanitize door handles and tables once the patient before me left. Always have an amazing experience with him. Explaining everything he sees on the ultrasound. One of the best Dr I have met. Am greatfull for his expertise

Doctor Carpenter cares for his patient. He is a very good doctor and genuinely cares about his patient's safety. His nurse and staff are above par. They make sure your questions and concerns are addressed properly. You can see they are all passionate of their job. Great bedside manners plus the classical music background in his clinic is a plus!
