John McGowan, MD

I did extensive research prior to visiting this practice. I feel that I’m in very good hands under Dr. John McGowan. He is NOT scalpel happy and will explore all avenues of care before he picks up a knife! If you have cervical or lumbar issues, I would highly recommend this practice!

I highly recommend Dr. McGowan. I met with him to discuss my condition . He was prepared before he came into the room to meet me . He had already reviewed all MRI and X-ray cd’s and read my patient history . He took as much time as I wanted to answer all my questions . I really appreciated not being rushed and feeling like he cared enough to make sure I understood everything. This was a really great experience.

Amazing surgeon. He gave me new life and helped me out of a very painful situation. I thought i would end up in a wheelchair, but thanks to his expertise i was able to get back to a normal life. Staff very professional and kind.

In February of 2016 I went to Dr. McGowan to find out the extent of my back injury and what options were available to me to ensure either repair or management. I was unable to afford surgery and many other things kept me from getting help at the time. Fast forward to April 3rd 2018 my appointment for him to review my latest MRI and discuss surgery options. Not only did he remember me from two years ago but he was, as before, straight forward in what needed to happen, directly admitted me, and scheduled my surgery for the very next day which made me cry with joy at the idea of not hurting anymore. Dr. McGowan describe each step of the procedure and what to expect afterwords and was happy to answer any questions I had and did not talk down to me as has been my normal experience with most doctors.The surgery went off without a hitch and the pain relief was instant. Dr. McGowan was very attentive after the surgery and seemed just as glad as I was that the pain was gone. I like someone who does good work and prides himself on it. I drove all the way from Tyler so that he could my surgeon. On April 17th I had an appointment to get my staples out but the wound had become infected. Again Dr. McGowan admitted me and did surgery to clean the wound, and just as before, went through everything step by step and while I am in the hospital for a while I couldn't be happier that I am in Dr. McGowan's hands.

Dr McGowan and his staff are all amazing. I first met Dr. McGowan when my dad was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2011. Dr. McGowan has the best bedside manner of any surgeon I have ever met. Fast forward to 2016 and it was my turn to need him. He has performed several surgeries on my and I’m having another tomorrow. He an amazing doctor and I would highly recommend him to all. Can’t say enough good things about him and his staff.
