Old building, old rooms but good place to stay

I went to visit my friend here who had just moved in and this place was absolutely disgusting. There was trash all over the lobby, random people sleeping in the lobby, and the stench was overwhelming. On top of that, I got little to no sleep due to the honking, loud music, and yelling throughout all hours of the night. The elevator in the parking garage is broken, so we had to walk a block in downtown Dallas to get into the building. The building is cool, along with the rooftop, but as a young woman I was not feeling safe being there.

I wanted to wait to write a review until at least a couple months after I moved in. I moved in here April 1st so its been about 8 months since I started living at the Kirby. So far Ive had absolutely 0 issues with my unit, which is something I was worried about with it being such an old building. The staff are amazing, and always willing to answer any questions/concerns I have. The building itself is beautiful, with lots of the original parts kept from when it first opened. The gothic style architecture and almost hotel looking lobby really caught my eye when I was apartment hunting. But what really sold the place for me was the staff. When I came to tour it was the only place where I didnt feel like I was being interviewed for a job, and I made a great connection with Jason and Courtland (2 of the leasing agents). It almost felt like I was just having casual conversation with friends. My unit is amazing, and as an artist it truly embodies everything I wanted for a living space. It is big and open with concrete floors and beautiful Old Brick on some of the walls, spacious Kitchen with up to date appliances, 12 foot tall ceilings , original hardwood flooring, & its all in the heart of downtown Dallas. I cant recommend the Kirby enough. All of the residents are extremely friendly, the amenities are well kept, and the staff is amazing. Thank you Jason and Courtland!
