Too many car thefts, don't feel like the management is doing their job to protect residents

What good is it to have a really nice looking apartment if you can’t feel safe. I’ve had neighbors who’s vehicles were stolen from the garage, as well as catalytic converters being stolen. My vehicle was stolen from the garage as well. They take forever to fix things. Garage gate goes out and stays open for weeks at a time. (After I told them my car was stolen, the gate was fixed within 10 minutes) Power outages, wifi issues, Rule change after rule change, elevators not working properly. You should not complain about noise complaints if you live facing a common area ex. Pool. They’re more worried about a speaker being by the pool then they are the safety of the residents. We pay too much for there to be these issues. Update- 09/15/2021 Multiple vehicles keep getting stolen from the complex. A vehicle was stolen on the 14th of September. There have been 20 vehicle thefts/break ins within the past 60 days. How is this keeping your residents safe?

My car was stolen out of the parking garage just last week after the parking garage gate was left open again. Apparently auto theft is an ongoing problem that has been happening for the last two months. Another resident who also had their car stolen informed me that 20+ cars have been stolen in the last 60 days. Westerly never made this issue known to its residents. The 1st crime watch meeting was held a couple of weeks ago but little information was given to residents who could not attend in person. Even with the new parking garage security that started working here last week, I don’t feel safe anymore. It’s auto theft now, but will it be assault or murder next time? Maybe it already has been and westerly just hasn’t told anyone about it. This place is not transparent with residents and doesn’t respond to email when you voice your concerns. I’m sure they will respond to this review with a number and email to contact them but what’s the point. Westerly staff, before you respond to this review go find my email from over a month ago and respond to that first.

I moved into my apartment in June and absolutely loved everything about my apartment, amenities, location and the general aesthetic of the complex. If I would have given a rating back then it would have been a 5/5! However, I waited to write my review because I knew that with moving into a brand new complex there would be some challenges and there definitely has been. There has been power outages, wifi outages, changes in policies, trash being left in the hall, lack of safety measures in the garage(ex: stop signs, reflectors..) , and numerous car thefts and break-ins. To my knowledge most issues have been handled in a professional way by management but, it is unfortunate to feel an overall decline in my satisfaction and safety since moving here in June. I would still recommend this complex because they are so new and figuring things out but, hope that management can find some resolution soon to the recurring problems that residents have to deal with.
