I have a son who has autism, epilepsy, and ADHD. He is 12 years old. About 2 months ago, we went to our local dentist to schedule a cleaning, but we were not able to get anything done because of his sensory. That same day, we scheduled with Dental Anesthesia Specialists ("DAS") to come do the sedation at the local dentist's office for this coming Friday. There is a $1400 charge (which we have already pre-paid) because they DO NOT accept insurance in this situation. Needless to say, it isn't going to happen. We had multiple meetings with both our local dentist's office and DAS to go over my son's medical history, his sensory issues, and everything else you could consider. Just a week ago, we talked for almost an hour with DAS and it was confirmed that they would try to see him as early in the morning as possible, but they do typically go by age. However, once the schedule was set this week by DAS, we were scheduled to arrive at the dentist's office at 12:45. Since this appointment requires sedation, our son can't have anything to eat or drink. We expressed our concern because he doesn't comprehend no eating, no drinking.Today, while speaking with our local dentist's office - who have a better understanding of our son's conditions - we learned that they had tried to reach out to DAS to talk about the schedule. DAS has yet to call them back even though it is being performed at the local dentist's office. This led to the most AWFUL conversation you could ever have with the scheduling assistant, Meika, at DAS. While we weren't asking to be first, we were pleading our case to go earlier in the day. It will be impossible to have our autistic son go all day without food or drinks as he is a grazer. He would become combative, irritable, and likely try to hurt himself or us.Meika told us that they only go by age and said, "If your son, who is 12 years old, cannot understand not to eat or drink, then how can you expect a 3-year-old to understand. The anesthesiologist has helped multiple families with special needs, and we haven't had any other parents complain about their time". When I tried to stop her there, she wouldn't let me talk. She then recommended that "you can take him to the dentist's office around 9 because they won't have food or drinks there. If there is a cancellation, then they could possibly get him in sooner." Really?!?! Go sit in a dentist's office for 3.5 hours before his appointment. It is hard to have him sit anywhere for 15 minutes.Ultimately, she told us we could cancel, and we have since done just that. We have never been treated with such disrespect and so disdainfully. While our son won't have a dentist visit this week, we were able to find a hospital in the area that accepted our insurance, and the work will be performed next week. Our local dentist's office understood our needs and helped us secure an alternative the same day. And the best news from a financial perspective, is it won't cost us anything! The dentists at DAS sound amazing from the other reviews, but the scheduling coordinator needs to learn some empathy, understanding and professionalism.

My daughter had a dental procedure done and had to be put under anesthesia. I truly couldn’t be happier with Dr. Seifikar. He is very professional, compassionate and made her feel comfortable every step of the way. He answered all of my questions and explained what he was gonna be doing! He assured me that my daughter was in great hands. I highly recommend him ! 10/10!
