You have to share this building with Airbnb tech bros who just rent for a night/weekend and party the entire time. No one will do anything about it.
The building has the emotional maturity of a frat house. From the night I've moved in there has been noise low end bass in my apartment between 8PM to about 3AM at night and throughout the day. For most of the weekend nights you'll have patrols of thirsty losers bragging about tinder going up and down the hallway.
For context - there does not seem to be a concrete slab between floors. It's just 12" between studs/rafters like a normal house and the sound echoes and has reverb.
I have spent $600 on sound proof paneling and bass traps. It compresses the reverb but you still hear the thuds/bangs/stomps and nothing can stop the low end of bass. I have over 9 pages of logs recording the noise disturbances. It vibrates through the entire living room down to the floor. It is completely unacceptable.
The kicker - the people I am soundproofing my apartment from complained about the noise from stapling the cardboard backing. Amazing.
When I confronted the upstairs neighbor I thought was responsible. Their response was "We can be a lot louder and we like throwing parties." Don't even waste your time on these people.
The only recourse I was given was the security phone number. I have logged, reported and called security. I have tried to work with the office. I have had security confirm the sound and the office isn't helping and denying the security officer report.
FWIW, since The Beverly pays the courtesy patrol and their reports are proprietary to The Beverly once they are turned over. They can admit/deny anything they want. They own it. Except if it is subpoenaed in court, then they have to turn it over or you can get the person to show up and testify.
Avoid avoid avoid. This is quickly becoming litigious so I can move somewhere peaceful. My experience with The Beverly so far can be summarized as: I am learning how to subpoena people and evidence in court over this.
Update:
Literally within an hour of this edit my next door neighbors party spilled out into the hallway. They explained they had ten friends visiting from Pittsburgh and it wasn't ending any time soon. It's 2:30AM
This place is a zoo. It's absolutely pathetic.
Update: Three hours later, 5:45AM
They migrated to the pool.
Update: It is now the next night and they are still going:
===========================================================
This is my fourth cross-country move in the US and the move-in/check-in process has been the easiest of any place I've landed.
This is also my third time not having the ability to visit before moving. I was able to view things remotely through a Zoom tour.
I was concerned early on because I was transitioned to another person. Nothing happened, I think it was just someone's last day. But any work transition can be complicated.
So Taylor was thorough and her attention to detail got rid of that concern really fast. I was setup and good to go the same day.
Taylor kept in touch and reached out about two weeks before my move and was flexible with a last minute change on my end - zero friction.
But if you're in California stay in California. Definitely don't move here. Stay in your ruined state.
