I have been a patient of Dr. Prosser's for years now at the Vermillion Dental Clinic and have always had a good experience. Unfortunately Dr. Prosser was unavailable when one of my fillings fell out and I needed it replaced and Dr. Brower was assigned to me instead. The reason I am not giving the experience a one star is because the nurses were fine and at least I got the filling done. That said:
1. The cost was way higher than I would have expected. I don't have dental insurance and they knew that going in and charged me $700 for 30 minutes of work. Dr. Brower mentioned in addition to the one filling that fell out, there were three others small ones he could take care of at the same time. I figured since I was there, I would have them done too. I should have asked for the price difference ahead of time but certainly did not expect to pay $700! Especially as far as I can tell the other fillings took 5 minutes each and are so small, I couldn't tell at the time where he was talking about. Thinking back, I feel like I was up-sold similar to how you might be at a car dealership...just wasn't expecting it. And for the sake of accuracy, I didn't get a cleaning and had one single tooth x-ray taken.
2. I wasn't given any anesthetic. Topical or otherwise. While the pain wasn't intense, it was certainly pretty uncomfortable given the sensitivity of the exposed tooth to begin with.
3. The quality of the work was fairly subpar too. The new fillings weren't polished (if I lick my teeth, it's very easy to fell where the filling is). In addition, I had severe sensitivity that was not there prior to this filling. The sensitivity has now gone away a bit after using Sensodyne for 3 months but is still there.
Overall, I was very disappointed as I have been going to this same clinic for over 20 years now and never had a poor experience before this. I certainly will not be going back to Dr. Brower.
