My mother was a resident for over 3 years at Carriage House of Taylors - she left earlier this year. She left in the middle of the month (with notice) and they are refusing to reimburse her the balance of her rent - around $700. Along with this issue there are plenty of others. Let me preface this by saying most of the issues are with management, and that the employees try to take care of the residents as best as they can. 1) They incorrectly invoiced her and are now saying she owes THE DIFFERENCE (she does not, as she paid every invoice in full and is not responsible for their accounting errors). 2) Until we decided to take care of filling her medications ourselves at CVS, my mother would frequently come up short and be missing medications by the end of the month. The short pills were usually Tramadol and Lyricia - both controlled medications. We have to assume that records were adjusted to pass inspection. 3) They allow employees to stay and sleep in empty rooms overnight when not on shift. 4) There was numerous cases of theft. Some were investigated, some were not. My mother's recently purchased wheelchair was stolen. All residents and some staff were sick with covid and quarantined at the time her chair came up missing. Only a few staff were allowed to move in and out of the building. When my mother recovered and was allowed to leave her room, she noticed her chair was missing. Management and some staff searched the building for the chair, but there was never an investigation or authorities notified of the theft.5) Chronically understaffed - some weekends there is only one employee for the overnight shift.6) The food is a joke - most of the meals are all carbs - no fresh fruit or vegetables. And they are often out of basic things like coffee, sugar, etc.7) In the 3 years she was a resident - they had 5 administrators.8) I have tried to resolve the reimbursement issue with them and they are now refusing to reply to my emails, so I am taking them to Small Claims Court to try and get my mother's money back.
