image When we arrived at our rental we were confronted by the owner telling us there wasnt a reservation until the next day for the house and we needed to talk to the rental office. We then had to discuss/argue with multiple surfside staff that the confirmations door code etc. we received were correct.
The owner also stated the house was not ready. This was an understatement. The house had a pile of old ripped wallpaper in one of the bathtubs, another bathroom shower door was broken, the house was not clean and smelled. It was clear nothing much had been done, let alone recently. Interestingly, this was not the house we originally picked when we reserved last November. Surfside informed us in February that the house we wanted would not be available due to repairs that were still in process. This house was one of their options that was available. (For that reason alone, one would think this house would have been ready.)
We were eventually able to get settled in and dealt with the messes ourselves with no cleaning supplies or offers of help from staff.
The next day brought plumbing problems and a general lack of assistance and communication (ex: the "heated pool, fixing previous issues etc.).
Ana told us our inconveniences would be reviewed by her director 2 days after our departure. We are now one week + since our return from our vacation and we have heard nothing. We have inquired with further emails and again no response.
Surfside vacation rentals may have tried to ruin our vacation with their lack of care or concern for the customer but they DID NOT SUCCEED. We enjoyed the city and surrounding area of surfside beach and would recommend it. The home itself was nice after getting things cleaned up. However, we would definitely suggest staying away from surfside reality rental group unless you are willing to lose precious vacation and family time dealing with them.

Our guest services department works diligently to get compensation requests filled in a timely manner; unfortunately, delays occur. The consumer will receive compensation along with the additional night of stay that was given for no additional charge. Again, our company would like to apologize for the inconvenience the guest experienced. These errors were noted by management, who will work thoroughly to keep our promise to provide future guests with a pleasant experience.

image Giving a 1 star review because our rental last year with Surfside was great, without issue! Unfortunately it was a completely different story this year.
The house we stayed in, Hide-n-Sea, should not be available for rent to anyone. When we first arrived we thought we could look past the initial issues found, like only a VERY surface cleaning being done, (and that's a generous statement), and the kitchen cabinets being stuck shut because whoever is maintaining the property wants to hold together the falling apart cabinets with paint, or being unable to find a clean dish in the house, but the mold present throughout the home and disintegrating windows are unacceptable for people to stay in.
The sink in the kitchen is green because it's so rusted out. The appliances are old: the dishes don't get clean in the dishwasher and food takes twice as long to cook, so if you're unlucky enough to be staying in this rental be sure to bring disposables and don't plan to cook much (or pack your patience). We joked we would all need tetanus shots when we left because the kitchen items were so bad. I would not usually complain about a lack of kitchenware but in case anyone is reading this who is going to stay in the house - there is not much so bring what you'll need if you prepare to cook.
The upstairs bedrooms all contain windows that are failing and quite literally disintegrating. One of them has band aids! on the top that seem to be there to attempt to hold it closed? maybe? but said window also poured rain through it one night and soaked the entire floor. When I called about the window leak? No return call, no one came to look at it, nothing. The rain coming through the window was so intense it woke up the guests in the room - this is not a small leak! Imagine how disgusting that carpet is that got soaking wet and then just left, and I'm sure thats not the first time. While all of the windows didn't pour water through them, you can hear that they are not doing their job on top of the disintegration of the window/ frames that is plainly visible and full of mold.
The bathrooms contain moldy shower frames, leaking sinks, and bathtubs that 1. don't drain and 2. don't properly work (one can either be a shower only, or a half shower half bath because the diverter doesn't work)
Upon opening a cabinet on the first floor to put things in for storage, a glass mirror fell (luckily didn't shatter on the person who opened the door) because the glue had failed on it - extremely unsafe.
The initial presentation of the pool area was of chairs stacked and stuck everywhere along with the previous occupants belongings still present, so clearly nothing is done outside in between stays. An indoor rug stuck by the back door that was still soaking wet 3 days into our trip (why isn't that thing disposed of?), and the pool heat we added to our trip for an additional $375 didn't work 3 days of the trip because of technical issues, not the weather conditions not being right.
I called multiple times throughout the trip to address the numerous issues that arose despite someone coming out, taking pictures, seeing the condition of the property, and then nothing. One time I called I was told that someone would be out that day and we remained at the house all day just for no one to show up. The only thing that was attended to in a quick manner was pool heat, which seems to be handled by a pool company - but since the same issue presented 3 times throughout the week I think we were getting quick fixes and there is an actual issue with the pool heater.
Since you all already have all of the pictures from my walkthrough with your representative I will not post them here. But I cannot believe after seeing the condition of the house, and spending a significant amount of our vacation time calling Surfside to get our problems resolved that I did not even receive a call back. I don't trust that these things will be addressed so here's a PSA, I'm still dealing with the effects of sleeping in a mold filled house for a week.
