I cant say enough good things about my experience working with Golden Gate and Troy Byrd in particular. He was thorough, communicative, and always available to answer my many questions! This was not a great experience for me. Everything seemed fine until my homeowners insurance got canceled because they forgot to add a year of home insurance to my down payment"
The premiums for the insurance was supposed to be paid out of escrow, it was not; Which resulted in my policy getting canceled and it cost me over $1,500 out of pocket to get it reinstated. Who knows what happened to the $775.00 that was paid at closing in which, according to my closing paperwork was supposed to cover 6 months of insurance payments. I asked my broker at Golden Gate Mortgage why it wasn't paid, seeing as how I prepaid in my closing cost, but I never did get a straight answer
I understand wholeheartedly that We are all human and therefore we all make mistakes; however, when I am paying money to a company for their expertise in their field of business, and in the end, I am the one that gets put in a bind because of their mistake, that is totally unacceptable
What bothers me the most is that They didn't even try to make it right. The only answer that I got was "We should have caught that in underwriting yes, I agree, you should have, you should have also made an effort to make it right, No such attempt was made which is a total lack of accountability.
I would still love to know where the 6 months insurance that I paid at closing went but, I guess we will never know since all that I have gotten is the runaround.
I would definitely not use Golden Gates services again, there are far too many alternatives out there to risk getting screwed over again by a company that is supposed to be on my side..
