It was a real pleasure doing business with Mike Walker! He was true to his word in terms of costs (no last minute additions or changes), he delivered our new boat to our dock, took us out for a test drive, answered all our questions in a very understandable manner, and took care of all the paperwork without any glitches! The buying experience was fine and we like the boat. Headline - if you live on Lake Norman be aware there is no place on the lake for Veranda warranty service. You may want to consider a brand that has a dealer in the area. Now for the details - we purchased a Veranda VR25RC with a Yamaha 250 and ordered a forward bimini. We took possession of the boat October 6th and on November 3 discovered the front bimini was the wrong one as it didn't stay attached. We contacted Mike and received a new one on January 15. This one was wrong as well (twin zippers rather than a single zipper) and we alerted Mike. After many emails I finally contacted Veranda directly and they arranged for the correct bimini to be delivered on April 15th. Not the end of the world but now the fun stuff starts. We were motoring around coves going lock to lock on the steering and the fuel line disconnected from the engine. It was too short and was a manufactures error or a rigging error by the Lake Wylie team. Stuff happens, right? We are now having issues with the Simpro (it keeps rebooting and won't load the map) and have tried everything we can to update it (won't upload a pending upgrade) without success. It is now pretty much worthless. The last issue is the steering - anything above 10 MPH and the steering gets unnaturally tight - something's wrong with it. When I contacted Mike he suggested the Simpro could be repaired at any authorized dealer. When pressed about a Lake Norman dealer for Veranda warranty items - crickets - no response. Again - it's a good boat but not having warranty access on the Lake Norman would make me think twice about purchasing this brand from Boat Sales of Lake Wylie.
