Thus far everything is great. The OT is pleasant and very knowledgeable. She has ordered a splint for my thumb on the first visit. Our second meeting is tomorrow by Telehealth-which is better for me- because I have severe emphysema. We will do exercises to help with written instructions by email.
All has been positive and so easy for me.

I am in my second week of PT with Vanessa Bowers for my second knee replacement. She rehabbed my first replacement so incredibly well that, even though my surgeon’s new protocol does not call for outpatient PT, I reminded him of my brilliant recovery 2.5 years ago and he immediately sent a script to NovaCare Phoenixville.
My rehab consists not only of increasingly challenging exercises, but specific manipulations to gain flexion (hard won) and straightening of my leg as well as working on my hip flexors, IT band, and gait training to get me back to full functionality. At 2.5 weeks post surgery I have minimal pain, am walking unassisted, and am back to 80% of my daily routine. I know my recovery is due in large part to the knowledge, experience, and efforts of Vanessa pushing me to use my new knee to its fullest potential. I will continue PT for several more weeks to ensure complete recovery and full use of my new knee.
