Marc Goldberg has been an incredible mentor to me for 10 years. He gave me my first and best investment education, even generously sponsoring a school project that taught me the basics of fundamental analysis. Having been fortunate to work for him briefly after college, I can vouch for his professionalism and knowledge on both the accounting and investment businesses. There is a reason his clients have been working with him for decades.

Marc Goldberg has been providing accounting services for me since Betamax was the hottest new electronic gadget and tax returns were filled out by hand.  John Wanamaker (former department store) declined me for a credit card yet with Marc's guidance I was able to retire at 50 when he facilitated the sale of my business to another client.  John Wanamaker has been out of business for decades.Why do I stick with Marc?  I like his philosophy and he devours the tax code like candy.  As for his philosophy, he says income tax is a "self assessed" tax.  Rather than having his client pay more tax "to be safe," he will minimize your tax exposure, always taking a defensible position.  After all, in the event of an audit, he is the guy who will have to defend your return.  We were audited for sales tax years ago and the only problem was hauling boxes of documents to his office and back.  Everything was found to be in order.His knowledge of the tax code is an obvious advantage to the client.  Marc called me one day to alert me to a soon expiring estate tax exemption which saved me in estate taxes more than I paid him in fees over the past 35 years.  That was just one phone call but a biggie.  Where was my estate tax attorney?  Asleep at the switch.  Marc is constantly on the alert to find ways to save his clients money.  Did I mention financial services?  In the olden days, clients would come to Marc for investment advice and then had to go somewhere else to carry out his program.  Now, the laws have changed and Marc is a Certified Financial Planner so he can manage your investment portfolio too.  He tailors our investments to our risk tolerance and retirement needs, not a cookie cutter one-size-fits-all.  He likes our investments to be "in all places at all times" which has worked well for our family's portfolio.  He is not chasing the "hot new thing."If you can get him or his firm to take you on as a client, consider yourself lucky.
