OHSU Perinatology and Genetics Clinic, Marquam Hill

I was referred to Dr Shaffer after lymohangiomas were found on our sons neck at a 27/28 wk ultrasound. I was terrified as he was our miracle baby after 5 years of trying with multiple miscarriages, an ectopic pregnancy, and a failed round of IVF that was a nightmare at Oregon Reproductive Medicine. We had such a bad experience with previous OB’s and reproductive endocrinologists that it was hard to trust another doctor especially in a scary situation. After we met with Dr Shaffer we were both relieved and although we were terrified he was reassuring and took lots of time with us and made us feel at ease that everything was going to be ok. We live in Bend and had to go to Portland since our hospital does not have the specialized staff and resources OHSU has. We went to our OB’s office for an NST and I was having contractions, started dilating, and was effaced so we were sent to Portland and the next morning Dr Shaffer came in to do our C Section even though we came earlier and we were not scheduled with him until the following Monday. This also was on April 17th when everything was shut down because of the coronavirus to add to the craziness. He just has that sense of calm about him and you can tell he really cares for his patients and he goes out of his way for them and realizes that everyone has their own individual needs. He relieved a ton of unwanted stress and made the birth of our son a very special memorable day that we will remember forever! Love! Love! Love! Dr Brian L Shaffer!

Dr Richard Burwick ,Dr. Brian Shaffer , Dr. Davis Lowell were amazing !! I had 7 different doctors and they were such an amazing team ! They helped deliver my daughter 5 years ago and they ALSO helped deliver my son 2 years ago ! They made me feel so calm and less paranoid about my pregnancy. I lost a daughter 6 years ago at a different hospital.. she was born at 23 weeks and sadly passed away 18 days later.. and I decided to come to OHSU and I wouldn’t have it any other way ! Due to my cervix my babies are premature but thanks to doctor burwick for introducing me to the cerclage .. I was scared at first but he made me feel calm about the whole experience , and my baby boy was born at 38 weeks . I love the staff and everything about this hospital. They actually make me feel like they care and show me they care about my health and my kids health !

Dr Brian Shaffer and staff there at OHSU absolutely saved my daughter.s life 6 years ago. I would have been lost with them. Very compassionate and gentle. Don't hesitate to place your trust in them.
