I found a costume that fit finally, and reserved it... putting down twice what was owed on it at their insistence, being told I'd get the extra deposit back. I ended up cancelling the costume, and was told I'd get a full refund. Weeks go by......no refund. When I called, I was told I had to come in and bring the card to get my refund. Now I can't catch them actually open. LOVELY CUSTOMER SERVICE, folks. I'll keep you in mind for future business. (NOT!!)

Rough around the edges, but friendly enough and they've got more selection of costumes and pro makeup than is available elsewhere.

I came to Hollywood Costumers excited to make the perfect costume for this halloween. I felt confident that I was going to the right store until I walked through the door. The customer service was terrible. An aged store owner apparently suffering from depression tossed articles of his inventory onto the counter like so many pieces of garbage. When I pointed out that the costume could be more complete if we could find the other components not represented in the pile he made, he became irritable and began presenting mismatched items saying that they should be good enough. All the while objecting to my interest in making a complete costume on the grounds that it is going to cost more money and implying that I should settle for an incomplete costume comprised of lesser quality parts. Unable to convey my enthusiasm for a quality product and unwilling to admit that money was not an issue I left the store disgusted with their inability to perform their specialty. I will never shop here.

I went in a while back and I talked with the main guy everyone seems so peeved with- I personally think he's just misunderstood. Anyway, I went back a few days ago and they have a fantastic new employee! She was really nice and helpful and "tailored" to my needs. Overall, even though the place was previously crumby, I think they're turning around now!
