image Re: Dr. Gregory A. Moore at NeroSpine Institute, Pain Management, Eugene, Oregon. I was referred to him for pain management. His P.A. (Dana Rubin) put me through an exam verifying that I "have alot going on" but when I told her why I taper down on my pain med every month to avoid tolerance, she replied "So you go through your meds in 3 weeks and then withdrawals". No, I do not withdraw, and 2 oxycodone 5 mg every 8 hours is well within the prescribed dose. If that is too much for her to understand, she needs to find another Specialty that is more compatible with her knowledge base. Dr. Moore seems to be a one trick pony, with his answer to pain being block or burn out the nerve to the area of pain, which in my case is my abdominal/intestinal pain, the reason I need pain meds. Then as he was leaving the room, his parting shot was "You are eating pain pills like candy".Between being humiliated, made to feel like a dirty drug seeker/user, and losing my 21 year old son unexpectedly a month ago, I left crying buckets. I do understand that he prefers treating athletes and runners, not 58 year old physical train wrecks, but his behavior was unacceptable, unprofessional, and his P.A. had all the compassion and bedside manner of a rock. She made no attempt at all to act like she cared. I was referred because my Doctor is leaving as of Aug. 1, 2018 and I need someone to continue prescribing my oxycodone, which I have been on at the same dose for over 2 years, and never took pain meds in spite of pain until my mid 50's.The referring Doctor was under the impression that he does pain management and not just kill the nerve to the most bothersome site of pain. As an experienced ER Nurse, I do not find that acceptable, and I too thought he was more competent, given that I was mailed a sheet about rules regarding pain med prescriptions from the Pain Management Center. If he was prejudging me or doesn't do real pain management, the sheet of rules for pain prescriptions was misleading, and knowing why I was referred, they should have notified me that he would not take over my oxycodone prescribing, and saved me $30. I am disgusted with the treatment I recieved, and his wanting to kill the nerve, which would not address my intestinal pain, pain in joints, severe inflammatory breakdown of the cartilage in both knees, spinal stenosis/spondylisthesis,and Degenerative Disc Disease at all levels of my spine. I would not recommend this pair to anyone, even my worst enemy. His if you can't fix it turn off the alarm therapy is NOT pain management, it is turn off the alarm if you can't practice real medicine in an appropriate manner, which is talk to your patient and offer alternatives that work for both of you. A P.A. that has to be told 3 times why I taper down every month to avoid tolerance, yet still insists that I just plow through meds in 3 weeks and use tapering as an excuse is either very ill trained, or thinks I'm lying. Either reason is inexcusable in my opinion. In conclusion, if you are not an athlete or runner, avoid this pair unless you are prepared to be humiliated and disrespected. I have had the parting shot about taking pain pills like candy echoing in my head since my appointment on the 18th, which on top of losing my son has made me cry daily even more than before I subjected myself to their abuse. I am an experienced nurse and know my body, and my request to simply remain on my current dose of pain medicine was not respected at all, leaving me feeling like a bother. Apparently we wasted each other's time, and I drove over 40 miles for the abuse I recieved, and paid them $30 to disrespect me.
