Alder Pastry and Desserts

This is a place I couldn't stop talking about for a few days after I went here. While the interior doesn't have the same ambiance as some dessert places in Portland, Alder has the friendly staff and great gelato and other desserts. We came here in a large group which would have proven a challenge to any small shop in Portland, but they were prepared. They did have notice we were coming, so they prepared these little dishes with a fantastic four layer mousse cake, a macaroon as well as an outstanding lemon curd tart. Of all of the dessert places in Portland I have been to, this is one that I know I could take my mother in law to and I am confident she would love every minute of the experience.

Wow, this is definitely THE place to go to for sweets. Get the cinnamon macaroons, lemon tart, or chocolate mousse and you will be a very happy person.

Yum!! I loved the lemon tart. We took a dessert tour around PDX and this place rocked the casbah- high mars for their airiness, their presentation of desserts, and their adorable French to-go boxes. I'm headed back for their gelato. Where else do you find Stracciatella this side of Italy? This place is definitely staying in my rotation!

so sad to see this place go. they had the best gelato in all of portland! we gotta track that guy down!
