Lived here 5 1/2 years, from 2008 to 2013. It's a great place to live, but current managers (Verne Whiteaker and his wife) have no ethics whatever. They wanted to charge us to upgrade our apartment after we moved out, and charge for damages already existing when we moved in. Shouldn't have given them a penny since there was no inventory and they didn't even look inside the place until we'd lived there several years (they didn't own it when we moved in). After gouging us to financially improve their property they went on vacation to Disneyland. Oh yeah, and they also ruined the pool because they couldn't be bothered to DRAIN IT IN THE WINTER and the pipes broke.

Great area but the buildings are old and not well taken care of. No on site management and they do not answer phones. My husband, 4 year and 6 month old had to move because the managers would not respond to important maintenance requests. We spent christmas without an oven or heat. We finally got the city to get electricians out to look at the power surges after a whole year of being ignored by managment and the breaker exploded because it had been patched and ignored for at least the last 10 years said the electrician. We had to stay with family the last 3 days of moving out. They refused to return our full deposit even though it was impossible to do any cleaning due to their neglegence. They also evicted an old man who was dying of cancer for absolutely no reason. Then they completely renovated his unit and turned it into an Air Bnb. The unit was right across from ours so we got to see strangers staring in our windows and smoking on the porch. Our entire 4 years there we lived with a giant hole in the bathroom ceiling because they tried to install a new fan and decided it was too much of a job. My kid also wasn't allowed to play with CHALK. The carpets were horrendously stained and stinky when we moved in and when I suggested the smell in the unit may be due to the carpets i was told they were brand new. There was a bunch of old water damage under the kitchen sink that had been covered by cheap shelves. Oh and I got harrassed because my brother would come over to help with my kids a lot and he smokes and smells like cannabis. They told me they KNEW he was living with me and smoking in the unit just because the maintenance guy would smell it on him when he was coming back from the designated smoking spot. Simply a nightmare. Please don't rent from these people.

I've lived here for nearly 6 months and I love it. Great location, and it's SUPER quiet. I never hear my neighbors, when I do see them they are always super courteous. There are several grocery stores nearby and a bus stop directly out front. The Whittaker's (owners/property managers) are incredibly friendly, helpful, and were selfless with the application and move in process. We were treated very fairly, and they went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. We had come up on the end of our lease at our old apartment, and the one at South Crest wasn't ready yet because the blinds hadn't arrived yet. Instead of telling us we were out of luck they instead let us move in, but didn't charge us rent until the blinds arrived and were installed. I'm still astonished that they did that, and feel it shows the type of people they are - wonderful.We have had some very small standard maintenance needs, and every time it's seen to immediately with no issue. Beyond that, we never hear from or see our landlord. I would completely recommend this apartment complex to anyone considering this location.
