ACE Hardware in Skiatook does not completely fill propane tanks. They charge a flat rate by the tank size, not by the actual amount that was refilled. They fill by weight and charge by the gallon. Employees should be resetting the meter between tanks, but they don't. Pay attention to the meter, do a little math. You are probably being shorted.

Mark, you are correct that we charge a flat rate for a propane refill. We also have an option to just buy the propane by the gallon if you only need to top off the tank. It is actually cheaper per gallon to pay the flat rate in most cases. You are also correct that we fill by weight. This is the only legal way to fill a propane tank per the LP Gas Administration since a propane tank does not have a gauge or any other way to determine when it is full. The meter actually does not need to be reset in between tanks unless you informed us that you just wanted to top off a tank that was almost full. Per your description, it sounds like our employee did everything correctly to make sure you had a full tank that was safe to transport. All of this could have easily been explained to you if you would have asked for a manager and explained your concerns.
