Im a hermit crab owner. Ive done my fair share of research to ensure im giving my hermit crabs the proper care they need to survive and strive when being kept as a pet so its very disturbing to me that a large company like Petco will not give their employees basic knowledge around tank set up and minimum crab requirements. To start, crabs need a certain type of substrate in order to bury themselves in when molting. The subtrate needs to even be a few inches deep. They need humidity, they need pools of fresh and salt water to full submerge themselves. They need fresh foods. Petco had dry 1 inch dirt, two bowls of water almost dried out, dead crabs in the tank to the point that when i decided to rescue one, the employee grabbed one and said oh good hes not dead. Its disgusting. You should be ashamed.

If it is solely dog or puppy products you're looking to shop for I would rate this store 5stars. Lots of variety, good prices,helpful staff.
The fish department has been a disappointment more than a few times. It's hasn't been uncommon for me to spot many dead fish in tanks as well as sick fish. I wouldn't want to risk buying fish from here. I fear a sickness could kill others in my tank or the purchased fish wouldn't survive long. Besides this,the fish tank supply aisle hasn't been well stocked,often leading me to be stuck ordering from the website. I know this is a large reaching covid problem however I have seen their competitors not suffer so drastically .
