Imagine living in a property with spider and mice issues and you have to spend money from your own pocket to deal with it. Imagine someone in the management barks at you asking why the property looked different than when you moved in 1 year ago. Their drug infused mind is different from ours.

Unprofessional, irresponsible, chaos management and their lack of efficient communication had made my experience with Otsubo a really unpleasant one. Please AVOID.

Wish I could rate 0 stars. Avoid at all costs. I used to have great things to say about Otsubo Realty. They were decent landlords. We had a 2 story apartment in Jersey City. Our house had SERIOUS issues when first moving in. It was newly renovated..... okay... it literally seemed like they knocked down half of the original house and just built upon old concrete, leaving HOLES. The first day we came in, we had to get someone out to clean because of dirt everywhere and bugs!!! We didn't even want to move our stuff in the day our lease started because of this. There was a TERRIBLE smell from the basement because they didn't seal the house correctly. They offered us services when we had issues with our house, such as pest control. They promised to pay the cost of pest control, explaining they had purchased an annual membership. They ensured we would not pay any of these costs. Fast forward 1 year later, we get the security deposit back. They took out money from our deposit because of pest control. When I asked why, they said it wasn't "fair" for them to pay. They charged us for one random visit last October, with no explanation until I asked. We were promised free pest control in writing, but they lied. There was also nowhere in the lease which mentioned we'd have to pay for this service, or even a portion of it. THE HOUSE WASN'T BUILT WELL. THE PEST CONTROL COMPANY SAID WE HAD MICE BECAUSE THE HOUSE HAD SO MANY HOLES AND GAPS IN IT. He literally told us if no one lived there, there would still be mice and bugs because of the structure of the house, being slanted with holes. They also took out an INSANE amount of money of our deposit because of one thing they didn't like. It set them off, and they hired someone to basically clean our entire house, even though the house was in great shape, besides normal wear and tear. They sent us a bill for this, but it didn't explain why small rooms cost the same amount to clean as a large basement. They also hired an ADDITIONAL cleaning person, but claimed they "paid her in cash," so we had no bill or receipt about this. They will rob you for your money once it's not in their interest to be respectful to their tenants. BEWARE!!!!! I have lived in several apartments, but I have never had a landlord treat people they no longer need to be nice to so rudely!!!! I have friends who are urging me to take up my complaints with this company in small court...... I feel bad for anyone living in a property by Otsubo Realty, and I hope for those peoples' sake that they are treated well, as humans!!! And don't get robbed an insane amount of money for no reason DURING. A. PANDEMIC!!!!!!!!!!!! The building we rented from Otsubo Realty was made very poorly. Reflects on their professionalism!!!!!!!!!!!!
