I usually try to remain neutral when it comes to renting, and leasing agencies because I know in a city like NYC things can be crazy. However, with this being said, the Torkian group has been the absolute WORST leasing agency that we've ever had to deal with. I warn everyone to stay away if you see their name attached to anything. We are counting the days until our lease is over, and we will NEVER be renting or buying a place with them again. Here's what's happened so far, and I will update this review until we move out:We rented a unit with them in a building that has 10 floors. When we first arrived, we loved it. It was a 1BR 1BR with a fully open kitchen and living room, and a W/D in the unit and in the building. The building also had central AC. We rented it at 3150. We only agreed with this price because we were told that the building had a 24hr doorman, free laundry in the building, a gym, and that they were working on turning a room in the basement into a business center. All great things considering you don't see that often in NYC. However, after living in the building for a few months, we discovered several things: one, there was no 24hr doorman. That was a lie. There also wasn't a business center, which was another lie.A few months into the lease, our AC went out. This was in the middle of summer in 2020. We put in several maintenance requests, and reached out to our property manager, but it was hell trying to get in contact with them. No one answered the phones, and they rarely responded to emails in a timely manner. Our AC was out for about a week, and we had no idea if it was even getting fixed. Then after they told us it was fixed, about a week later it broke again. Same process. Finally it was fixed after that, but we weren't even emailed, or contacted. No one even came by our apartment.A few months later, our hot water went out for almost two weeks, and once again no one said anything. When Someone finally answered the phone, I was told that no one else was complaining about it, so they weren't doing anything to fix it. This was a lie because We were friends with our neighbor, and another couple on the tenth floor, and they both said that they were experiencing the same thing. They finally fixed that, but then the water pressure was terrible, and the same process continued.It seemed like everything was fine until recently. Two weeks ago, our AC went out again, and when I called, I learned that we had a new property manager(none of us were told about this), and when I addressed all of my concerns I was told "things break in buildings. I live in a building." They finally fixed the AC last week, but it is broken again.Torkian Group is a mess. Like I said above, no one answers the phones, they never email their tenants, and they are horrendously unprofessional when you finally get in contact with someone. We pay our rent on time, and have never been late on any type of payments. We never would have moved here if we knew what a hassle this would have been. Please stay away.Update 7/30: Our bedroom closet door handle broke off on its own, and when maintenance came by to fix it all they did was glue it back on. It fell off again later that night. We put in another maintenance request, and a different guy came to look at it, he was upset because he didn't understand why the other maintenance man didn't just fix the door handle the correct way, or order a new one. Our dryer vent tube hasn't been connected to the exit vent in the space where our W/D is since we moved in. We've put in two maintenance requests for it because when we dry clothes, the condensation builds in the space, and creates weird, dirty water droplets on the inside of the doors in front of the dryer, and they drip down the door leaving stains.
