Ryer Avenue Housing Development Fund Corporation contracted Not-For-Profit Grant Writers in the winter of 2014 to write and submit our response to the NYC Permanent Housing for Homeless Persons with HIV/AIDS RFP. From Day One, Ms. Paulette Long was a total professional. Expertly conscientious about the requirements due to the deadline of the submission, Ms. Long worked tirelessly to learn the intricacies of our agency to design a bid that the city could not reject. Ms. Long and I spent countless hours on the phone and in face-to-face meetings to ensure our agency would continue to be funded. At the end of it all, our agency was renewed for 9 years at $1.9 million a year. This contract is worth over $17 million in total, and when it is time to renew our contract, Not-For-Profit Grant Writers, headed by Ms. Paulette and her team, will be the first call I make. Five-star consulting from Five-star people.

To all who need help with your grants or capital raising, keep reading. My name is Rudolph Southwell. I am the Happy and surprised recipient of a $7.9 Million Dollar city grant, all because of the efforts and writings through Not for Profit Grant Writers and Paulette Long. Up until I received the grant, I was a disbeliever. Back story: I opened my private daycare center. My partner and I have a background in real estate and entrepreneurship. After the real estate collapse, we needed to find another way to generate some income and create a win-win by also serving our local community. After our business opened it did well. Our center is in Bed-Stuy Brooklyn. Many families needed care who were underprivileged, had vouchers or had special needs. Although we were open and had a steady income, we always needed more kids because many other local daycares were city-run daycares and they would get those kids first and many more subsidies than us. This fact gives the city-run daycares an inherent advantage over private daycares like ours. Opportunity: NYC government began restructuring their programs and were allowing private centers like mine the opportunity to get involved. By this time, we were almost at full capacity in our daycare, and most of the struggles were over. So, we had a decision to make. We asked ourselves if we should stay private or go for the city grant? We decided to give the award a shot, all the while believing that our chances were slim to none. My partner and I started to ask questions, go to meetings and engage people about this grant. A lady that was at one of the daycares I worked with told me that we should go for the grant and she knew a perfect person to help. She referred us to Paulette Long When we first met Paulette, we thought she was too cool, laid back, soft-spoken but so confident. However, to us, she was expensive as hell, mainly because we didn't even believe in grants, free money or any of that stuff you see on TV. Paulette asked us for $7500….$7500?...my partner and I pondered this... and ultimately decided that the worst that could happen is we lose $7,500. It was the best decision we ever made. We paid Paulette, she wrote, she called, we explained our business, we submitted the paperwork. We did our part and waited. Then we got the phone call. YOU ARE APPROVED!!!! But better! YOU RECEIVED APPROVAL FOR $7.9 MILLION. Paulette called us first to give us the news. She was too calm. My partner called me, and we both called Paulette. Once again very calm. It was a weird feeling. We kinda felt like we were on candid camera, maybe a joke. But there was no joke, no candid camera. We went to NYC government offices, signed a contract and can honestly say that we went from disbelievers to recipients. I highly recommend Paulette. When I started with her, I asked if she could guarantee me a contract and she said no, but her work is guaranteed. Well, she did great work, and we got the money, and she made it happen. The funny thing is that now when my partner and I refer to Paulette, we say we got 7.9 million dollars for $7,500. Crazy. Still can't believe it.
