Jack Erwin - Office

I used walk by this location often when I lived in Tribeca. It's great to see how it's been fixed up. I haven't had the chance to actually visit Jack Erwin, so my memories of it are different. However, I painted a portrait of this corner in my series of 'Disappearing New York', which you can see on my website, kovalfineart dot com and you can see what it used to look like!

Do not waste your time at the store, better to order online. I went to Jack Erwins store in Manhattan the other day because I am in NYC trying to find a pair of shoes for my wedding. When I walked in I was told that the store did not sell shoes directly but merely served as a place to try shoes and then they deliver the shoes to your home. The size 12 shoes I tried were too small, so when I asked to try the size 13 shoes the employee said that they had just sold them. How does a store that doesn't sell shoes and whose sole purpose is to have all their different sizes available to try on sell a pair of shoes? I want to stress that the employee at the store was very nice and I am not sure if he is the one who sold the shoes. I wound up getting a pair of nice shoes at Geox instead. That store actually had shoes to try on.

I already have a pair of Chelsea's from them, so I was excited to recently purchase a pair of their Navy suede Mason boots. But upon their arrival I noticed that there was some damage to the corners of the wooden heel of the boot. I liked the look of the boot though so I tried them on and found that they were quite uncomfortable. Then as I took them off, I noticed that the collar of the boot was undone as though it had not been glued or sewed down. Being quite disappointed by the quality of this boot, I returned them hoping to put the $ toward some other pair down the road. Then I get an email that they wouldn't give me a refund since there was wear on the sole of the boot. I explained that the wear had occurred from trying on the boot, but they refused to give a refund or store credit or to return the boots. Super disappointed with them as a company, I had hoped for more.
