RENT INCREASES: As a tenant of 2 years at this building, I was given a lease renewal with a monthly increase of $1,000.
NO SERVICE in APARTMENTS: The building was also not planned correctly, because it does not get SERVICE in any apartment. It’s in a terrible location in the west village & not centrally located.
BAD LOCATION: For a building that’s located far from subways, restaurants & all NYC has to offer in that neighborhood (or other neighborhoods, as it’s hard to get elsewhere without subways near it) AND has no service in any apartment, the increase in rent is preposterous.
LACK of MANAGEMENT: Management in the building is on vacation frequently with no one to fill the role or answer tenants for weeks at a time, even during a rent renewal time period, which is time sensitive.
CONSTRUCTION: There was also construction going on directly across from the building for months with noise at all hours. The result of that project for 600 Washington tenants is now a completely blocked view & service that’s not only bad but entirely nonexistent. - Reason alone to DECREASE rent or, at worst, not increase it (certainly not by ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS per month for a studio under 450 sq ft).
OUTAGE/ NO SERVICE: no Verizon / spectrum tower connection for service in apts when WiFi goes out. I have spent 3 days dealing with this unable to make calls, send texts, or use apps / internet browsing while in the apartment - DUE to bad building design & planning (so no service if there is a WiFi outage or spotty WiFi).
SERVICE / EXTENDER: They were supposed to install an antenna or extender of some sort ON the building months ago to resolve the complete lack of service in apartments. They never did, & tenants still have NO service in apartments.
EMPLOYEES QUITTING: multiple employees have left or are leaving soon DUE to bad management and building issues.
DISGRACEFUL MANAGEMENT: How Equity Residential can validate the raise in rent in this building specifically is not understandable on any level and disgraceful.
DO NOT MOVE HERE: Do not rent here or from Equity Residential.
