I have been a customer of The River Connection for over 16 years. Most recently I picked up a new P&H Virgo MV. What a great compact and versatile sea kayak! Prior to putting down my money I was able to do two hour demo paddle out of their private launch on the Hudson River. Marshall provides kayakers with exceptional service. I have now purchased nine kayaks from him along with needed safety gear, and clothing. I have also received personal/group instruction and ACA certification there. Having traveled extensively in the Northeast I have been to most, if not all of the better kayak shops in NY, Mass, RI, Maine and Georgia. You will not find a better or more knowledgeable specialty paddling shop anywhere.

The owner of the store is an amazing kayaking instructor. I had a lesson with him to teach me basic kayaking techniques and water rescues, as I am a new paddler. Throughout the lesson he inspired trust and confidence, and he makes the lesson fun and entertaining, while explaining the technical stuff in a way that makes sense. He taught me many new useful skills and helped me adjust my paddling to be efficient and accurate. He also showed me important water rescue methods which make me feel more confident on the water and now I am able to enjoy my kayaking trips even more.
If you're also a new paddler, YouTube cannot teach you these skills. Go to River Connection for a kayaking lesson. I 100% recommend it!

If you are interested in buying a Kayak or kayaking equipment this shop is the place to go.
The River Connection is located at 9 West Market St in Hyde Park NY.
The owner is Marshall Seddon, who is so knowledgeable about just about any facet of Kayaking. From paddles to kayaks and everything else in between, Marshall can help and guide you on your kayaking journey.
Marshall is a dealer for Stellar kayaks, and yes they are beautiful. They are made in England. You can get them custom made, but be prepared to wait.
He is also a dealer for Werner kayak paddles and will show you the difference between types of paddles for what doing, ocean Kayaking or White water.
There is parking just behind his shop.
Marshall has two assistants, Mazy and Moldova. It is rumored that they are actually real Sea Dogs.
