We have been longstanding customers at the Vitamin Shoppe store in Forest Hills since the time the store opened and overall customers for nearly 30 years. We are very familiar with Theresa Chico and Sunni, these individuals have known us for many years and have treated us with respect and kindness. There have been many other "original employees " that have also treated us well; never having any issues with them. I went to the store on Sunday evening (3/24/24) to purchase supplements for my husband and was subjected to direct discrimination and racial profiling by two employees, Madeline and Kevin. Upon entering the store Kevin proceeded to watch and follow me around the store up and down the aisles. When I finally confronted him, Madeline who stated she was a manager claimed they were scanning the store. At the time there were only two customer: myself and a female caucasian customer in the store. It is quite obvious why they chose me; another case of (SWB) shopping while black. Both employees were rude, disrespectful, and clearly biased. Meanwhile we literally spend thousands of dollars in this store each year (earning gold member status). It is very disheartening to know that this is what some store employees see as acceptable behavior. We now question what the store leadership condones since they both seemed very comfortable with their behaviors. Other customers witnessing what took place confirmed that this is a practice at this store with certain employees, including Madeline. I intend to take this unlawful incident further, reporting the discrimination to the appropriate agencies. I just want others to know to beware and to speak up if this is your experience. Unfortunately, we will no longer patronize this establishment especially with these two individuals being employed there.

Customer service here is 50/50. Half the time, you have these really almost jaded women but that also often look down on you and as if they don't want to attend to you as a customer.
I was looking for a particular item but was not in the store selections. But because last time it was one of the few times I had a good experience, the woman working, helped placed an order and said it was free delivery to the store. I was happy to try that again this time. 1. Two women at the register, two people on line. One woman saw me and kept looking up at me, and ignored me, then walked away from the register, but helped a man. 2. Second woman was having a difficult time with placing my order or something. Then became very frustrated and appeared to unprofessionally take it out on me. She spoke to me in a annoyed and sharp tone to which I had to say, "hey don't take out your frustration on me, you're the one having trouble and it's the system, not my fault." She didn't even apologize just chuckled and said, "it's not allowing me to..." then stopped mid sentence and trailed off. She kept going from one computer to the next. To which bc of her annoyed and frustrated attitude and bc I had to go, I said, "hey actually going to another area where there is another store, maybe I can see if it's there." She said she'd check for me before I go. I said it's not necessary bc I'm going there. She dismissed me and proceeded to check and said they don't have it. I said but I can maybe place the order there and have it delivered to their store where I was at. She answered, "there's one in Rego Park, I was like huh? So confused by her response. But I said "oh okay there's one in Rego Park Mall?" Maybe I go another day there, then." And when I asked exactly where it was, she looked almost as if she had spoken too soon or something and just looked past me and just said, " in the Mall". It was so weird. She continued fussing with the computer and said it's asking me for my delivery address. I'm like why my delivery address, if she's placing order for store pickup? I said it's okay, I have to go and I'll check the other store. She actually seemed annoyed that I preferred her to stop stressing about it. I even said I can come back tomorrow in case it's a system glitch. And she huffed and puffed. But I said, I just want to make it easier for you, I'll go to the other store. Thanks anyway. And left. You know they stayed talking. Such a weird encounter and experience. Honestly the vitamin and items selection there is slim anyway, and I feel GNC is still more trust worthy and with the value for items.
