Gutchess's logging operation totally trashed our property. We had the farm logged about 30 years with no damage. 30 years ago, they did not destroy the fences, the gates, the roads, nor the pasture. This time they destroyed about everything. This year they dropped trees all over the fences, ruining them. They tore out 2 gates, mangled them, & threw them into the woods. On 1 road they left an 8 inch diameter tree in the road, with the root ball in the middle of the road and the branches in the middle of the road farther down. They left some of the roads impassible. We had to hire a bulldozer to clear the roads. They used some unnecessary and destructive practices. One practice was to drag some entire trees out, with all the branches on. Once out of the woods, they cut the tops and branches off in the pasture. Then they scattered the tops and branches around the pasture, making a terrible mess. Worst of all, this practice removed the bark from a lot of the trees which we were planning to harvest in about 20 years. I estimate that this resulted in about $20,000 in damage alone. We hired a bull dozer to clean up some of the mess. Both the operator and an logger who came to see him, said that they had never seen such logging damage in their lives. They dumped and left 40 to 60 tons of cobbles in our pasture. This was not necessary 30 years ago and I don't believe that it was necessary this time. We'll probably have to pick about 100,000 pounds of cobbles over the next several springs. We hired a bull dozer and some fence builders to fix some of the damage.

From a Truckers POV. Great Place! People are friendly and professional starting at the scale, to the people that load you. Some days there are quite a few trucks so naturally the wait might be longer than usual but, Ive never really been here longer than an hour. Youre treated with respect as long as you dont act like an a..hole. A great stop.
