I've stayed at many La Quinta's and this has to be the worst one. Couldn't do early check in due to new software that doesn't allow it. Hold on credit card $129.99!! Never have I had a hold that large. If you're using Wyndham Reward points beware 30,000 points per night! Not worth it. Food was left in the room refrigerator, wall thermostat was hanging out and broken. Poorly managed. The front desk was courteous and friendly but as a whole I will not stay here again.

Rooms were very clean. Check in and out was very efficient. Breakfast was another story. I went to get eggs and potatos at the breakfast bar. I used one the spoons near the eggs and scooped some on my plate. Then used the same spoon to get a spoon full of sausage. Tthe attendant who was hovering near by admonished me (loudly) saying the egg spoon was for the eggs. I excused myself and said I was sorry.
He immediately whisked away the egg spoon, and used it to scoop out some of the sausage it had touched and headed to the back room. Yeah, he used the egg spoon to remove the contaminated sausage pieces from the sausage container that I was directed not to use in the sausage container. Did it somehow manage to self clean between the time I touched the sausages with the spoon and when he did the same? This guy needs a lesson in customer service and courtesy. I meanwow.

We have stayed at this La Quinta in Carlsbad NM many times, but the conditions here keep deteriorating. The hot tub out near the pool has been broken down since last summer. The pool had a layer of dirt on the bottom. The shower in our room leaked a steady stream and had mold/mildew in a couple of the corners. There was also a slight sewer smell the entire time. We stayed 3 nights; housekeeping staff were nonexistent - the bed was never made, trash was not emptied, and we had to get our own clean towels every day. We were disappointed, needless to say, considering the price of the room. Traffic was extremely noisy all night long and in the mornings.

The room was decent, but we had paint falling off of the ceiling and into the tub in the bathroom and one of the bathroom doors would hardly close. Breakfast was cold. The hot tub wasn't working.

Breakfast was better than expected: eggs, sausage, biscuits & sausage gravy, yogurt, bagels, muffins, toast, oatmeal, juice varieties, and gluten free waffles (I don't like gf, but they weren't bad). Rob is such a hustler and kept everything restocked and clean.
My teens loved the complimentary hot chocolate in the lobby.
All the decor in the lobby & rooms are nice and modern. My only complaint is the lack of cleanliness of our particular room. Upon arrival there was someone else's long black hair and elastic on the bathroom floor. Right in the middle, so it's not like it was missed in a corner. There was also someone else's playing card and used french fry container box under our bed
There was a leaky shower head in our room (#110).
