My expierience with this place? Not horrible
Pros
First off, I've learned some parts of the self defense techniques and even have useful tips. But ever since my membership expired, I kinda forgot the movements that I've learned. The staff were really polite and I even recognized some teenagers from my old high school.
The most funniest part is when we pretended we were being under attacked which turned into a tickling session. It's the one were the partner were on top with a fake "knife" and tried to "stab" as we dogde each move
Cons
I didn't like being in the sparring sessions, because half of the teens played extremely rough. One partner of mine even told me they got a nosebleed after being punched in the face very hard

Union UTA is the best martial arts school out there. Shifu Rob is an amazing teacher with more accolades and recognition than I can list here; his students are a family of welcoming, diverse individuals and the quality of the training done here is without par.
I'm an out of stater who drives 3+ hours each way to come train here, and I have done so for years because there isn't anywhere like this. Cannot highly enough recommend; anyone with even a vague interest in martial arts or the self-defense systems like SAMI-X that are offered here shouldn't hesitate to reach out to Union UTA and acquire a class schedule. Best decision you'll ever make.

My family has been in and around different martial arts schools as students and teachers for 30+ years, so we've seen a lot. My daughter and my niece went here for about 2 years, and I myself have taken SAMI seminars here for adults, in addition to my brother (who is still currently a student).
And this place is a GEM! Absolutely TOPS!
Mr. Nichols and his team are very in tune with the current martial arts student. They understand what the kids want to learn, how to keep kids motivated and focused, while keeping things fun and loose. And the practical, everyday life lessons they teach the kids are such an added plus.
For the adults, again, very functional, with an amazing understanding of how to break down techniques to teach any audience. Appropriate with or without martial arts experience! No need to feel intimidated at all, the entire team is super welcoming, nice, and kind!
