I've been waiting for an appointment for 4 months. OVER THE PAST TWO WEEKS THE OFFICE HAS CANCELLED MY APPOINTMENT TWICE giving me only ONE DAY NOTICE in both cases. I live two hours away and need to arrange for childcare to make it to New Brunswick so needless to say, I'll be finding another practice.

Back in late July/early August, I called to make an appointment with the department of Neurology. They told me that the soonest appointment they had wasnt until the end of November with Dr. Chen. Because I was desperate due to the lack of neurologists covered by my insurance, I said so be it, put me in for November.
Today was the day of my appointment and I hadnt received any calls to confirm it. I called in the morning and said Id just like to confirm my appointment and they told me they have no record of me in the book. Being a healthcare worker myself, I know that by law it is required to document all calls in the contact notes. I told them to check the contact notes of my file and lo and behold, they found out I was telling the truth. They proceeded to tell me that the appointment was canceled and they tried to call me to tell me. I checked the date on my call history of when they supposedly called me and saw that I never received neither a call nor a voicemail. They told me that all they could do for me now was to make me an appointment for MAY. When I had originally called in July and was supposed to be seen in November.
I have never experienced patient misconduct this bad before. I dont know if this was some sort of business ploy because I have a government supported insurance that doesnt pay well, or if they really do just have such a surplus of patients that they have to just unlawfully cancel appointments without the patients knowledge. Regardless, it is unethical and unjust. This is not what healthcare stands for. When we take our oath, we swear to treat all patients with fairness and equality. This department does not represent that.
