I was referred to Bob's from a few buddies of mine who had a gsr built for turbo and a b20 all motor .. both motors run till this day and that was 15years ago... So I have a K24 I've had for a few years Bolt ons cams headwork from another shop. Kept having valve lash issues due to the valves sinking into the head.. Brought the head to Bob for the diagnosis the valves were in fact sinking into the head and also was deforming the valves themselves.. To make a long story short I ordered new valves to be installed into a new head alongside with new seats seals 2angle valve job resurface... This gentleman calls with little information about the engine he needs rebuilt other than saying with the spark plugs removed it takes 65 ft/lbs. of torque to turn the engine over yet he expects to be given a quote for what it would cost to repair. It's virtually impossible to do that without disassembling the engine and determining the cause of that tightness as well as whatever else it my need, yet he labels us as argumentative for telling him the truth. If you'd like to be told a fairy tale or given a song & dance you'll have to go somewhere else. We base our business on honesty with our customers and have done so for 50+ years, sorry if that offends you

I was replacing a head gasket on a K24a2 motor purchased from eBay. I did the "youtube tutorial" of putting water on the chambers to see if any of the valves was going to leak water. 2 of them did. Called around different auto machine shops as this was the first time rebuilding an engine. I got to speak with Bob and he said that the test I did probably wasn't the most accurate but then he was very patient with me in explaining why and also the different scenario on head issues from just the valves not seating properly due to carbon build up being stuck to potentially bent valves. He explained how he would pressure test the head first and will call let me know his recommendation. Long story short, we ended up agreeing on a reasonable price to take the head apart, inspect, clean, resurface the head, cut valve seats. Now I feel this cylinder head almost has zero miles on it after Bob was done with it. Great shop and shop owner!
