My father is a 95 year old WWII veteran who trusted Kathy of Russell's Clocks to pick up and fix his vintage Herschedes nine tube Tall Case Clock from his apartment in a Senior Living Facility in Collingswood, NJ. She arrived, picked it up and stated, it will be done in 2-3 weeks with an estimated cost of $299 to clean the clock.
That was APRIL 2022. After numerous phone calls to her from my father, his daughter Eileen and myself, his other daughter, she never returned ANY phone calls to any of us. Finally, my sister took my father personally to Kathy's property on Burrs Road and knocked on their front door in October. The son answered the door and passed his cell phone to my sister. Kathy told her that it would be done and delivered in a couple of weeks. ANOTHER month went by. She finally returned the clock on 11/5/22 in two pieces at two different times (11/5/22 and 11/12/22). AFTER all that, the clock STILL didn't work. She charged him $784.08 and took a check from him with NO explanation of the additional charges or a detailed invoice for anything done. All Kathy told him was 'it needed some bushings' but never contacted him for his consent to spend any additional amount on that clock. After consulting OTHER clock restorers AND attorneys for their opinion, it is commonly considered fraudulent business behavior and price gauging. Shame on them for taking advantage of an elderly 95 year old Veteran with a limited income.
