I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. I recently bought my first home and being new construction I needed someone to help me out with my yard starting from scratch. What stuck out to me initially from Pete and the crew was their personability and quick response time. It is ultimately what separated them from others and made my decision to go with them. Before starting, they assured me my yard would "be their baby" and they would be in the neighborhood frequently to check in on it. I was assured they would always stand by their work.
Early on and during initial work, they were responsive. So much so that I agreed to pay my full amount early to them as a favor (they initially charged me only half until the project was done).
The initial problems I had were the lawn was 80% crabgrass, and grass seed was strewn into mulch beds causing thick areas of grass to be growing in them it overall looked horrible. These were issues that I had to call, email, text multiple times to get attention to something I was assured early on they would be checking in on. At this point, with my constant nudging, there were a few measures sporadically to amend this and both parties agreed this wasn't work to be proud of. It was always chalked up to excuses, when in reality there was sloppy work being done, and issues were not being addressed as quickly as they could have been sometimes weeks apart (which when growing a lawn from scratch, you can't afford). Pete did have someone come mow the lawn a few times to reduce the eyesore of the long crabgrass.
At this point is where it unfortunately took a bad turn. I flagged to Pete that I had my neighbor ring my bell around 9pm as he was coming home and notice there was a geyser in my front lawn - one of the sprinkler heads they had installed was sliced completely off and water was pouring out of it this was from the mowing, and this was also weeks after I had tried to point out to him these heads looked way too high and I would appreciate the team checking in on them this was ignored. While I told him I appreciated the lawn mowing, there were multiple sprinkler heads now damaged (outside of this major instance) and every mow resulted in grass covering the mulch beds as they were not bagging it and not cleaning it up. As every step of working together the work was below average, I requested to end things amicably and to get some of the money back (5%) due to the poor work, damage done, and lack of a lawn that it resulted in.I just wanted to take some of that, and go my separate way to get the work done the way I had initially wanted it to be. I got an initial response that included no accountability, and then ultimately I was ignored for a full month after trying to call and email multiple times to have a conversation. I was told a phone call wasn't an option. As I write this on Nov 11- the sprinkler head that was snapped on September 14th has still not been fixed.
Being a brand new property, I had realistic expectations that it would take a few years to get a fully established and beautiful lawn but what I got was so far from it, choppy work, they just wouldn't take accountability for their it in the end, and ultimately completely ghosted me on outreach.
