I am a 69 year old guy who recently admitted to not being able to hear perfectly anymore, but have been getting through the day just fine, except for the constant need to look into a persons face and watch their lips to be able to 'get' what they were talking about. It was the same with my wife, I had gotten used to asking her a second time what she said. I recently had a hearing test done by Ryan Langson, who recommended and fitted me with a set of hearing aids for a two week evaluation. Full disclaimer, Ryan is my son. Yet, as he requested, I am approaching this review as an unbiased reviewer of his service and the hearing aids he fit on me. Also, Ryan has suggested for years that I would be a great candidate for hearing aids, but I never really thought I needed them, I thought I was getting by just fine. When I left his office after the first and only fitting/adjustment I needed, I was overcome with hearing the familiar sounds I remember from my younger years. Simple sounds like the rustling of leaves, the slight crunching as you walk on rocks and dirt, or hear the quality of the footing material I was walking on and my turning blinker which I sometimes miss. Watching TV was a real shock. previously I had the volume up high, to push some of the words, but I still ended up asking my wife 'What did they say?". Upon my return home from Ryan's office, my first encounter with the TV was shocking. First I finally heard how loud I had turned up the volume. Second when I turned down the volume to a comfortable level, I became aware that I could hear all of the sound effects in the background of the program and I could clearly hear every word. It once again felt like I was immersed in the Program on TV, rather than the guy looking in from a window. Apparently with my hi frequency hearing loss, I was missing many of the sounds at the beginning of words, as well as the softer sounds in those words. Now, listening to music, I hear all of the (higher frequency) treble sounds I had been missing. Restaurants were a breeze. I am a total convert from not needing hearing aids to having these high quality, frequency programmable hearing aids. They are the premium Widex hearing aids. Ryan would have come to my home and performed the hearing test and programming, but I wanted to see my Grandkids who were visiting. Bruce L
