I bought a Gonyea built home, and honestly I would never buy another one. In a house that cost nearly a million dollars, I find nothing but cut corners, lack of attention to detail, and terrible workmanship.
Let's give some examples. First, the landscaping installed by the builder. The sod was rolled over clay and construction debris. No top soil laid down anywhere. How the city let them get away with it, I don't know, but they did. Switches that have no wires attached to them. They must have made some mistake and decided to just keep it in place rather than fixing it. Sloppy plumbing that was not properly mechanically fixed. The house is 4 years old and I've already had multiple major plumbing leaks caused by allot plumbing. Sheetrock nailed to every other stud. Plumbing fixtures lose and corroding. Windows with gaps in the flashing. And finally the kitchen island was built with no moisture barrier underneath, so any water that splashes down from the sink ends up leaking into the basement.
I've owned houses worth half as much with much much better workmanship. I would not recommend this builder under any circumstance.
One other thing. I have not had a specific incident with this but my neighbor needed warranty repair on their home. This builder gave them the run around for months and took nearly a year to make warranty repairs.

We worked with Gonyea to tear down a dilapidated home and do a custom rebuild on-site. It was a fairly major project, as the existing lot had significant water drainage issues and a failing retaining wall (hence the need for a teardown rather than a mere renovation). We chose Gonyea after extensive research and we're thrilled with the result. I have not been compensated for this review in any way.
Andy Miller was our "sales rep" and he was great to work with. He familiarized us with Gonyea's services and general approach. On his recommendation, we requested Nate Mitchell to be our project manager and this was, without a doubt, the key decision for us. Nate promised us a safe, beautiful, and functional home delivered on time and on budget. He did not disappoint.
We did a fairly decent amount of custom work, and Nate helped us choose the best subcontractors to make sure that the landscaping (including a massive engineered retaining wall), electrical, and low-voltage work was done to our specs. I was pretty proactive in making sure this was done correctly--some of the subs required fairly close supervision and occasional intervention--but overall they met expectations and Nate ensured that everything was done correctly in the end. We had a near miss when some survey work wasn't doublechecked and the retaining wall was nearly malpositioned, but we caught it and Nate ensured that it was done correctly.
In all, Gonyea delivered on their promise. Our home is safe, energy efficient, beautiful, and built to last a lifetime. They delivered on time without any budget overruns. 10/10. Would definitely recommend without reservation. Services: Custom home design, Home building
