Was a tenant of GDI properties at a duplex. Wish the owner didn't treat me and my room mates at the time like children. Overall a decent person to deal with, but highly recommend not living under him if you're young. He's also a senile old guy and his nephew dresses unprofessionally for a repair man.

By far the BEST place I've ever lived! When my boyfriend and I started looking for a place, I was at first skeptical from the reviews. We still decided to call and move forward with touring some of the apartments available. Not only was George quick at responding, but he was also very patient with us! Needless to say, we moved in in November and we both love it!! George and Corey respond to our maintenance issues right away and also followed up to make sure things were still good afterwards. They went above and beyond the normal and I would know...I'm an apartment manager myself for a property in downtown Lansing. I love my new home and would definitely recommend GDI properties to any of my friends or family!

We lived in the townhomes (#14) for about 2 years. We have had a series of problematic events related to interactions with George (the owner). The unit themselves are decent and the complex is in a nice location. The community is pretty chill and people are for the most part quiet.The maintenance guy is really nice and he honestly doesn't deserve to be under that toxic management. There isn't a way to manage payments or maintenance requests online, which has led to some issues.
George is unprofessional, but has the potential to be cordial. I imagine he probably picks and chooses who to be a decent human to, so some people may have had pleasant interactions with him. I would go out on a limb and call him a fraud. He has tried to create "rules" almost 2 years into our lease and claim it was in the lease. Since we actually had it in our hands while we were talking to him, we asked him to specifically point it out. He couldn't. He accused us of not paying rent and provided a ledger and summary of rent payments with our check numbers and amounts. I did the math and he actually owed us $12 in over payments. When I brought this to his attention, he lied and tried to come up with an excuse, which contradicted his initial claim of us missing actual rent payments. I did him the courtesy of putting the payments in an excel document with colors and sections to make it easy to read with formulas that added the total of payments. Still, he denied the accuracy of the document he provided us.
Our unit had a lot of mold. We were told to spray it with bleach, which helped in the upstairs bathroom, but you could see the mold coming through the wall in the basement and the downstairs bathroom. Bleach didn't help with this, so we lived in this condition until we moved out.
There have been other interactions that were problematic, but ultimately, I wanted to highlight an experience with an individual that was unpleasant and unprofessional. I'm sure some people have had okay interactions with him, but like I said, he probably picks and chooses. I would encourage anyone that's looking for a place to live to consider this experience as a risk you may take when entering in an agreement with him. If the townhomes were owned by someone else, it would be a nice place to live.
I have initiated a consultation request for legal representation due to what I consider to be untrue accounts of our interactions and his threats. If it does get to that point, I have confidence that his claims will not be substantiated due to the evidence that I have.

Unprofessional and feel like I was scammed. Made an appointment to view a 1 bedroom apartment, person I made an appointment wasn't there. Nice maintenance man came from a couple hours away to give my boyfriend and I a viewing and was really nice. The apartments were being remodeled and looked nice inside, so submitted applications. The total cost was a $50 application fee, owner called to confirm some information on my application and was extremely rude! I felt like I was being interrogated over the phone, and he still hasn't gotten a hold of my boyfriend to finish our application after two weeks of leaving multiple voicemails and message with the office staff. Needless to say I'm out $50, never had my application ran to be accepted/denied, and ended up going with a newer, more professional, and cheaper apartment community down the road.
