Would give the Westin Detroit 0 stars if I could. I normally do not write reviews, but our horrible experience warranted it. The hotel itself was beautiful, but that doesn't mean anything when you get motel 8 service for $300+/night.
Lets start off with check in where we were greeted by possibly the rudest most unwelcoming staff I have ever encountered. If I could have cancelled our reservation upon arrival and moved to MGM, our weekend would have been more enjoyable.
After brushing off the initial bad vibes, we headed up to our dirty room (dust everywhere, sheets were not clean, robe had hair on it). Make sure to bring your own toiletries because bathroom is not adequately stocked. You will have to order extras, but thats if the room phone works and they will arrive an hour later.
We then brought our concerns about the room to the front desk manager. He said he could move us to a different room but it could take 1-2 hours. Even though that was an inconvenience for us, we agreed to wait for his call. We never got a call from him that afternoon and never got properly settled in. We continued on with our planned activities for that evening and decided to brush it off and make the best of the weekend. The next morning we started our day off-site and upon returning, came back to a room that had not been attended to by house keeping. At that point we had had enough. After speaking to manager again, he finally got us moved to a clean room. He pretended that he did not have our number on file to reach us the previous day.
All that being said, at checkout we received a printout receipt for a set amount, but got charged more based on the emailed receipt we received as we were walking out. Total scam! Would not stay here again. Such a bad first impression for me staying at a Marriott. It was a total waste of time creating a rewards account, as I will now be staying elsewhere.

We decided to stay here for two nights on the recommendation of a friend. What a mistake! We arrived on a Thursday evening. There was no valet service and no bellman to help us with our luggage. We had to lug our luggage to the second floor to check in. One of the people there gave my wife a hassle about her service dog, even though we had clearly told them about the dog. We lugged our luggage to the 18th floor. The room was nice, but nothing that made it special for the extremely high rate we paid. The room phone and mini-fridge did not work. They offered to move us, but the room they chose was even smaller than our room, so we decided to stay. They eventually replaced the broken phone and fridge. On Friday, it was raining very hard, so we decided to stay at the hotel for dinner. The only options were a very expensive restaurant, that did not have reservations available and the bar. We decided on the bar with a very limited menu. Our waitress was very nice, but she forgot to give us a steak knife, for my wife's steak. She went on break, so the bartender had to go search for a st
eak knife. It took her a long time and she eventually brought us a butter knife with a sharp serrated tip. We definitely do not recommend this hotel.

The price and the level of service doesn't match. They didn't clean my room on my second day. Hotel staff acts like it's not ok for me to roam the lobby or just sit . This a total waste of money. I would have done better staying at a homeless shelter or on the freeway under a bridge. Then staying herr.

No luxury services expected and advertised. The valet service wasn't operating during weekdays and was not listed.as closed in changes for covid. The room phone did not work inconvienced for 1 hrs with 3 trips to repair. The refrigerator had to be replaced for being too hot. The manager did not return my message. They offered to move to another smaller room with worse view as way to makeup for problems, not bigger roo.. This was unacceptable with inconvience of moving rooms. I'd recommend staying at a Hyatt for better service as this hotel is short staff but booking as regular with 10 house keepers. The weekday and weekend services are completely different for the expensive price without Spa, decent customer service nor valet, bell hop . it's better deal to stay elsewhere. There's no parking signs in front to drop off bags for checkin and parking is offsite 2 LG
blocks away!.. So disappointed la Quinta was better in everyday for services as well as Hyatt.

Let me start with I have no ideal who has been reviewing them but how? Terrible beds. Terrible pillows. Terrible shower. (Might have been good if they would have had good water pressure) but for 350-400 a night there way overpriced. I'd definitely say your paying for the view, amenities, and they do have good customer service even though they over charged me 1st.
