image it's really weird that a small congregation meets twice on Sunday. that's not cool.

image The Ann Arbor Friends Meeting is an active and vibrant spiritual community that holds Meeting for Worship each First-Day [Sunday] morning and provides a home or meeting space for many organizations and social justice efforts in the Ann Arbor area.
Each year, I attend a one-day regional meeting of representatives and others from Quaker Meetings that are located in western Pennsylvania, most of Ohio, and the southern half of the lower peninsula of Michigan. Periodically, this event is hosted by the Ann Arbor Friends Meeting; I always appreciate the opportunity to be able to spend some high-quality time with Ann Arbor Friends.
Quaker House, immediately adjacent to -- and connected to -- the Ann Arbor Friends Meeting House, had been built in 1901. The Meeting House had been built during the 1960s, well before accessibility for people with disabilities had been a part of the conversation. Ann Arbor Friends Meeting has made a great effort since then to make their Meeting House more accessible.
There is a wheelchair ramp to the north [Hill St.] entrance that is open whenever the Meeting House is in use. There is a lift [a small elevator] on the south [alley] side of the Meeting House that is open whenever the Meeting House is in use. There is a wheelchair ramp on the south [alley] side of the Meeting House that is open only on First-Day [Sunday] mornings.
There are no bathrooms on the main floor [except for a unisex bathroom in Quaker House that is available only on First-Day mornings] but there are four bathrooms [two of them single-sex; two of them unisex] in the basement [which is accessible via either via the stairs or via the lift].
If you are looking for unprogrammed Quaker Meeting for Worship -- and a strong Quaker Community -- in the Ann Arbor area, I strongly recommend the Ann Arbor Friends Meeting.
