image 5726-B Buckeystown Pike Frederick, MD 21704. We have had several encounters with employees that are not knowledgeable of their processes and standards of practice. Some didn't know how to check on the dental insurance policy.

image Beware! They change the billing codes after you get out of the office and you might end up paying more money than what you were initially told. I was a patient there about a year ago. I had to get my top wisdom teeth removed. While there I gave my insurance card, received the quote and paid for everything there out of pocket for what I was told insurance would not cover. The day after the surgery I received a call from their office who told me they did not put the correct codes for what I paid and that I actually owed more money. So the day after surgery I am paying additional money because of their error. I paid It over the phone. 6 months down the road I start receiving calls because apparently they had been trying to reach me through mail but put my address wrong in the system. However, now I'm supposed to have been getting a bill from them saying I owe more money again, another $135 because insurance didn't cover everything that they submitted after changing the code even though I had already paid what they told me I would need to pay out of pocket the day after surgery. I explained to them that I don't understand how I am owing even more money when I have already paid twice to cover my portion and should not be made to pay more because of their error. It took forever to receive an itemized billing statement that still was confusing as to why I owed more money. Eventually I admit I did give up on taking their calls because I could never get anyone on the phone and they would call when I was at work so I couldn't answer right then and there and no one seemed to be able to actually answer my questions and i refused to pay until my questions were actually answered. Now they are sending my "debt" that they created due to their error to collections and I guess I need to pay it to avoid this from happening. Long story short, just find another dentist this experience was absolutely ridiculous. Avoid the headache and financial issues if you can

image If I could leave no stars, I would.
I was a Bright Now patient for several years. My last experience there was a periodontal cleaning. It was not my first periodontal cleaning, by any means, but it was my first at Bright Now. The hygienist was not skilled at pain management so I powered through as much as I was able and then had to ask her to stop to address my pain. (Something I had never had to do before.) She administered the numbing agent again, but it was not sufficient enough to make me numb, so I had her stop again. We tried again and, ultimately, I got up and walked out with the work half finished. I had never done that before either.
To have someone sticking sharp metal objects deeply into your un-numbed gums is torture. Literally.
It took me well over a year after that visit to overcome my anxiety about dentistry. I made an appointment for an exam and asked to schedule a regular cleaning.
I had asked to schedule a regular cleaning and the receptionist declined since she said they would decide what kind of cleaning I should get.
I let her know that I had a horribly painful experience the last time and I would not be getting a periodontal cleaning at Bright Now again. I explained that I actually have a high pain threshold saying that I have had many periodontal cleanings in the past and I have given birth to two children, but nothing had compared to my last experience there.
The receptionist at Bright Now on Buckeystown Pike is apparently their designee to address patients who express anxiety about pain.
Did she suggest that I discuss my fears with my dentist in my appointment? Did she say that they may have other strategies to manage my pain? No. She said Ive had five children.
She said that they would only clean my teeth the way they wanted to and if I didnt want them to do that, why was I even there?
I explained that I wanted an exam and a regular cleaning. She said that, if I did not do what they recommended, I would have to find another dentist.
At the front desk, in front of a crowded lobby, she dismissed the single most physically painful experience in my entire life as insignificant. And then handed me a card for my next appointment date and snarkily, loudly said you have a great day.
Find yourself a dentist who knows how to address complaints about extreme pain. Find yourself a dentist that does not empower the receptionist to dismiss your legitimate concerns.
And what kind of Dentist is all or nothing? You consent to something very painful or we won't offer the other suite of services at our disposal to benefit your dental health?
Does the hippocratic oath not apply to dentists?
