image I do not recommend this company! I will never use them again. They were very late dropping off the pod. They gave me a time window of 9:45am to 1:45pm. After repeated calls, the pod arrived at 10pm.
But the worst part of this experience is that when I set up the dates well in advance, they promised me they would pick up the pod on May 19. This was imperative, because I was closing on the sale of my house in PA on May 20 and travel south to FL. They were not able to pick up the pod on the May 19, but assured me the pod would be picked up by the early morning of May 20. They lied! And no calls to me with explanation. So I called them again! According to them, they have only one truck and it is in the repair shop. This company is very unreliable, and they do not keep to their commitments and lie to their customers instead of resolving their contractual obligations! Dont use this company!

image Poor service, hidden fees. We rented a pod to be stored at a Pack Rat facility to declutter to prepare for selling our house. I scheduled the pick up of the full crate from our house on Wednesday, 2 days before our home photos and 3D scan were scheduled for Friday (leaving extra time just in case). The day of the scheduled pick-up, I missed a call from the driver while on a work call. Immediately after the call, I called the driver back and left a message. I called again several times throughout the day and received no answer. No one came to pick up the crate. I called the main 1-800-pack-rat line the following morning and was initially told they could not pick up the crate until end of day Friday, which would mean delaying our home photos and the sale of our home. It took several back and forth calls abs finally they agreed to make a pick up before 10am on Friday, as our photos were scheduled at 10:30. Again, they failed to show up as scheduled, delaying our home photos. When the driver finally arrived at 11:30, he know nothing about the commitment to pick up the crate before 10am, suggesting the company had made the commitment but failed to even tell their driver. When I called to complain, I 1) received no apology and 2) was initially told there was nothing they could do since I didn’t answer the initial driver phone call and that drivers aren’t required to respond to return phone calls. When I pointed out that if that is there policy, they should probably let their customers know in advance, they changed to say they couldn’t do anything because I waited until Thursday morning to call the 1-800 number. (Even though I had an any time pick up on Wednesday, which could have occurred in late evening.) After HOURS on the phone, they finally agreed to credit the delivery fee, which is a paltry offering considering the inconvenience caused.
In their quote, they did acknowledge a potential gas surcharge if gas prices changed. But despite the delivery occurring within a couple weeks of the initial quote, they charged me a gas surcharge that was as much as the delivery fee itself. In addition, after they had my full crate in storage for just a few days, the sent a notice saying the monthly rate would increase in 30 days. So if you use this company, be prepared to spend quite a bit more than they quote you.

image If I could give negative stars...I would. This was a nightmare
.
There were fundamental errors in multiple components of this transaction that has cost a bunch of time, money and energy.
This was a state to state container relocation where we stored the container for about a month. On both ends of this move the container was not picked up nor delivered on the date that was requested weeks in advance. What this means is if you have a specific date you need to move by ( as most people do ) you CANNOT depend on this company. If you would like to schedule movers to unload your container, you also CANNOT depend on this company.
As they did not deliver a container, we were forced to rent a storage unit for a month and then hire movers to take the items from the storage unit to the new location in a different state where the first container had already been sent. The only container that made it was delivered a day late, promised to be delivered before my scheduled movers were coming and yet again...did not make it. I was notified of the delay of the container delivery at 7pm the night before.
They compensated a $100 deposit lost for movers that were unable to work as the container was not there. But my mom, on a fixed income has put out $1700+ for movers and $200 for a storage unit all because pack rat did not deliver the second unit at the date and time that I specifically asked (i had even paid the extra $50 to reserve AM which is a bit ridiculous). They told me to submit the expenses accrued via email and with the fastest response I have had in the entire interaction, said I did not give them the opportunity to make it right and reschedule the delivery...so it’s on me.
I have worked with Pods before and it was night and day in terms of them doing what they actually say they are going to do it. Once you’re stuff is loaded up, you’re at their mercy...so good luck.
Proceed with great caution.

image I had a great experience with this company. Phillip, the manager in charge of my move, was communicative and helpful. It’s a challenge to find enough space to get a 16 foot container dropped off in the middle of a city, but Phillip and the driver worked with me to make it work. Zero complaints. I’ll definitely use them again.
