image My fiance and her kids have MaineCare and have been struggling to find a dentist who still accepts it. She was referred to this guy because he does. The first appointment went pretty good. In leau of the Dentist's aggravated demeanor, we went back to have some teeth filled. He gave a brief description of what would happen. Both of the kids jumped when they saw the needle for the Novacaine because it was the first time seeing it. He instantly gave up. When my fiance and her Daughter were leaving the office this guy had the audacity to say to her "if the apprehension doesn't get under control they can look forward to a mouth full of dentures" We do NOT recommend for children or MaineCare recipients.

image All this guy cares about is money. TOTAL waste of time. Rude, assumed I was poor, made my 13 year old daughter uncomfortable the list goes on and on. Id rather have NO teeth than see this guy!

image The building was very nice, and very nice waiting room people. My mom brought me and my other two siblings in, due to the fact Im only a teenager. Right away I had been kinda sketched out by looking at some reviews, I didnt have enough time to read them but I wish I did. My two siblings, ten and fifteen, came in for cavity fillings. I came for mine to be checked on. The second I got in the chair I was already kind of uncomfortable knowing I had a male dentist, but I just blamed it on my anxiety and tried to let it go. He looked at my X-rays and said that my cavity, which was very small, would need to be worked on. Which hes assistant then said that it was actually the same size and just needed to be checked. Which he then just brushed it off and took a look in my mouth. I was not impressed with the fact he was very well leaning on me, and I was super uncomfortable. Im a well known person at schools and to my family for being straight forward and being able to voice how I feel no matter how it will effect the other person, but I told myself to just work threw it anyways and kept my mouth shut. He was very aggressive with his tools poking at my teeth, obviously I have gotten my teeth worked on previously but I havent had someone work on them like him. Once he stopped I sat back up and he told my the dangers of smoking. Ive fourteen so Im well aware of the dangers because I have gotten talked to about it plenty of times at school. But you do get waivers signed by parents, which I did my own paper work (for the most part) so I knew there was nothing about it signed. He continued to tell me about dangers of smoking and drinking. But not without mentioning that it takes years off your life and how he had buddys that smoke, where his assistant made a joke about his friends being dead, which I find to be disrespectful and very unprofessional. Because I am not their friend nor do I want to hear about it. He than left the room and I was sent to the waiting room.
He went ahead to work on my sister to get some cavities filled. She has some on both sides, which he refused to work on the remaining ones and only did 2/5. She drinks flavored water and hadnt known how bad it was, but she does brush twice a day and flosses. He said that she needs to reschedule my mother thought it was very ridiculous due to the fact Ive gotten all mine worked on at the same appointment. He told my sister its going to hurt for a couple months after. Ive done studys in the passed based off wanting to work as a dentist. As well as personally having cavities filled, it should NOT hurt after and if it does he may have hit a nerve, or dug too deep into the enamel. He also had the smoking and drinking talk with my sister and told her to save your money for a house shes fifteen in Maine, she cant even get a decent paying job yet.
He then worked on my brother and was supposed to fill cavities and chose to reschedule because there was someone coming in based off emergency within another appointment. The emergency, was a guys crowns that fell off. I havent looked into anything with crowns, but this guy walked in and the worker at the dest asked him if he currently had the crowns. Back to the doctor, he also talked to my brother who is ten, about smoking. When my mom tried to address the fact hes only ten, he very rudely cut my mom off and continue the conversation. He also didnt let my mom in the room with any of us.
I hope this guy looks at his reviews, (targeted to him) you need to go back to training, as well as learn some respect. You pick a job you enjoy, not just one that pays good money. As well as get surgical stainless tools.

image Upon my first visit, Dr. Horowitz immediately started talking about scheduling 3 fillings for me and how he would discount the price. I was taken aback as I hadn't needed a filling in over 10 years and now I needed to have 3? I asked for clarification and was answered very condescendingly, and was pressured into scheduling (my first mistake). When I went for the first filling, there was absolutely no explanation and I didn't even know where they were going to be working in my mouth as they laid me back. I have very bad dental anxiety and grew very uncomfortable as he was drilling. I tried to signal that I needed to take a break and swallow/readjust, but him and his assistant continued to put weight on me and say "nope, nope, just a minute, just a bit longer!" and wouldn't let me sit up. Finally, they let me sit up as I started crying and was growing panicked. The whole experience was so surreal as I had never had a dentist be this aggressive. When I started to apologize for crying, both he and his assistant had left the room and were extremely annoyed with me for inconveniencing them.
Fast forward to having to go back 8 months later because this filling HURT badly, so much that I was having problems smiling/talking. He at first would not see me and said it was "normal." When he finally did see me, he roughly tapped on my tooth with a metal device and blew air into the hole and asked what my pain was. I said an 8, to which he replied, "if it was that bad you'd be grabbing my wrist begging me to stop." I then insisted that I didn't feel that it was a normal amount of pain, as he grew angry and snidely said "then I guess you'll need to have a root canal which I can't do for you."
This experience was almost 2 years ago and i STILL think about it. If you require any ounce of bedside manner with dental work, I implore you to go elsewhere. And no matter where you go- please always advocate for yourself and remember you dont HAVE to do anything you're uncomfortable with.
