We tried to reach you by phone but did not get a response. You have been a customer for 8 years and we value your patronage. This is the first time you brought in your own parts and we apologize for the human oversite of not installing your rear brake drums. The shoes and springs were on the passenger seat and therefore installed on the vehicle. When customers supply their own parts there is no parts list generated when the repair order is written so the technician didn’t know to look through the vehicle for drums. When you returned, we immediately brought the vehicle into the shop and installed the drums in less than ten minutes. We told you before we performed the repair that there is no warranty on customer provided parts. To explain warranty, 99% of the time a warranty is required due to a part failure not an installation issue. The part is warranted by the manufacturer through the supplier. When we sell a part with a markup, we become the supplier and therefore the part is warranted through us back to the manufacturer. When you supply the part to save money, the warranty is through the supplier that you purchased the part through, therefore we cannot warranty your parts should a failure occur. The labor warranty is covered by the markup on the parts therefore voided because we have no way to warranty the parts.
