image I went to see Dr. Quinlan for a laser surgery. On the day i was there the laser machine wasn't working correctly and the doctor couldn't quite finish the procedure. He told me if i had any problems with my vision to come back and he'd complete it.
My vision was not up to par, especially at the end of the day or when I was tired. It was almost like there was a thin film over my eyeball. I called to finish the procedure, but the doctor had a surgery on his arm. When I called again they weren't seeing patients because of Covid. Neither of those events were the office's fault, but this is where things started to go downhill.
Doctor Quinlan had retired, and some jackleg was coming down from Kansas City to see his patients. The appointment setter starting fighting me hard, insisting I didn't need to finish the procedure because my vision had improved substantially. I tried to explain that it was bad when I was tired and about the film, but she wasn't hearing it. It took three calls before she scheduled an appointment- three months down the road.
When the day finally came, I explained to the jackleg from Kansas City about the unfinished procedure. He examined my eye, said everything seemed fine, and refused to finish it. At this point my eye was dilated and I was in the room with the laser- it would have taken thirty seconds to finish the work they were paid for. No go. I tried one more time to get somebody to understand my vision is fine at nine in the morning, it is at night when I'm affected. But the jackleg was done listening.
I paid a three-hundred-dollar copay (and a second forty-dollar copay on the day the jackleg refused to finish the job) and they charged my insurance company for the full amount- I didn't get a partial refund and the insurance company didn't send a partial payment, even though they only did a partial job. They could have finished the procedure in less than two minutes and at nominal expense. As I said, the laser was just sitting there, not in use.
I feel if Dr. Quinlan hadn't retired I wouldn't be in this situation. On the day he couldn't get the laser to work correctly he stressed how important it was that I come back and finish the procedure if I experienced any problems with my vision. But after he left, every person I interacted with fought me. About doing work left undone that they'd been paid for in full.
