image First all I'm totally heart broken! We had put down 850.00 for a wedding in their gergous fountain room about 2 years ago then covid hit. Somehow after talking to someone, our paperwork could not be found! Finally when talking to someone after covid they would not honor the wedding stating I said I canceled when that was never said! I got a call months I mean months later they mysteriously found the paper was actual today 11/27/2023, keep in mind we put a down payment 2 years ago. Barbra left me an on line message stating they had found our paperwork only to let me know we lost the money and there was no resolution. I was also informed prices went up and there was no helping us. We were willing to pay the difference no problem. I was in shock when she called me with this info, I would've been better off not knowing! I'm back to square one finding something my fiance and I love and its not easy. I learned a valuable lesson, but don't disregard the fact my heart is crushed and my feelings are hurt!

Erica in response to your review & clarifying your recollection of details. We have been working with you since February of 2020 when your first signed your 1st contract on 2.28.2020 for a wedding on 07.17.2020. The contract clearly states that your deposit is non-refundable. You called on 04.09.2020 to change your wedding date to 07.17.2021and came in and signed your 2nd contract on 04.13.2020 for your new wedding date of 07.17.2021. We transferred your deposit over to your new contract with your current quote. After several emails & phone calls asking you to make contact, trying to book a decoration meeting with you & a finalization meeting you finally reached out to us on04.30.2021 at 12:36pm emailing Lakeside to cancel your wedding. This was after us honoring your original quote with 2020 pricing & offering you the new wedding package for 50 guests at a lesser value. We worked very hard at accommodating our Covid brides. Some weddings we moved 4 times. As for having a date you wanted was out of our control as there were new weddings booked & Covid weddings moved from the previous year. You were not responding to emails or phone calls. You were adamant that you wanted a wedding for 100 guests still. Money was always the issue with your wedding planning.Your paperwork was never lost, it was archived into storage due to being cancelled by you.You then went quiet again and reached out to us again on 12.21.2022 enquiring about wedding packages for 50 guests. At this stage your deposit was forfeited from 2020. You were upset. We offered again to honor your old quote with an increase of just $300 post covid & nearly 3 years on! You yourself can understand how much groceries & utilities have gone up. This was a generous gesture on the company's part as there was 2 price increases in that time. You then went quiet. Was thinking about getting married again and contacted us on 11.25.2023 for a wedding of 50 guests for April 13th 2024. We offered our current prices.11.27.2023 You called wanting your deposit back, begged if there was something we could do for her as she could really use the money. Nearly 4 years later. We understand, as does everyone times are very tough & the cost of living has increased well beyond the average person's wage increases, if any. We are sorry for your financial hardship, but it is not our responsibility and you knew & understood the contract you were signing, twice.

image Looking at the reviews for this place, there are some good reviews, but most of the reviews are old. There must have been a management change because this is not my experience.
1. The price for the services rendered was terrible. We chose the Taco Bar for the reception dinner. That was $27 per person with our 150 guests that came out to be. For that price point, I could have gotten steak dinners catered from Kingsley Meat for $28 per plate. Unfortunately, Lakeside will not let any other caterers cater your event.
2. When the final payment was made to the venue, a personal check was written. The funds were available in the bank to cover the check. We were told by the venue that the check had bounced. We went to our bank to investigate. The banked rejected the transfer of the funds because the back of the check was not endorsed by the venue. We were told not only we had to pay a $100 returned check fee AND we had to make the final payment in CASH! We handed them over $10,000 in cash to pay the final balance. When we asked about having to pay the $100 returned check fee, the owner said "If I had to pay it, you have to pay it."
3. We paid $1000 to the bar before the wedding for our guests. Before the pictures were done, they were coming to us to tell us our $1000 is over half spent. Even more troublesome was there was a sign behind the bar saying beer was $3.00 when we had a keg of beer included in our package.
If the owners of Lakeside would like to publicly respond to my review, I encourage them to. I have receipts to back up my claims.
P.S. Don't even get me started on the chemical tasting guacamole

Dear James (Nicholas) Wyatt,Thank you for your feedback although sadly disappointing. I will respond and clarify all of your points and encourage you to look back over your paperwork, contract, quote & package information & your choices for yours and Sarinah's wedding on September 30th 2023. Your facts are inaccurate & clouded. If you choose to look at our reviews, as we encourage all of our brides, grooms & other clients to do so, in their due diligence when searching for their venue, you will notice there are lots of current reviews. By that I mean in the last 3 years, being current. We are a family owned & ran business of nearly 27 years and pride ourselves on our service and care of our brides, grooms & clients.1. The menu & the venue you & Sarinah chose. When booking you had a choice of choosing our rustic venue & bringing in an outside food vendor of your choice, being a gracious groom at the time you went with Sarinah's choice of our more formal venue where you do have to use our chef for your main menu choice. There are cheaper package/menu options if money was a problem. There is financial strain on everyone at the moment with the cost-of-living increases & especially those with young families. You were not locked into your menu choice until 2 weeks prior to your event. With our taco menu you also got 2 meats on your menu, beef & chicken. The Guacamole is always made fresh. All yours & Sarinah's choices. You mentioned paying $10,000 dollars as if it was just for the food. That was your wedding package including room, ceremony, rehearsal, decorating time, food, beer, wine, soft drink, servers, day of coordinator, wedding planner/stylist, ceremony decor, table linens, table decor, cake cutting, cake stand, toasting glasses, toasting champagne, cleaning, insurance, liquor license, DJ/MC etc.I cannot comment on Kingsley's Meats as I do not know them.2. You are correct in that your final payment did bounce. It was your bank that bounced your check for not being endorsed on the back. Companies/Businesses do not endorse the back of checks. We never have endorsed the back of checks & have never had one bounce because of it. It was not our bank that bounced the check or initiated the fee. All fees incurred or passed on by your bank to you or the customer are your responsibility. Your check payment was made in your contractual time of 2 weeks prior to your wedding date. As per your wedding contract, with your check bouncing and payment not being received within those 14 days, you were actually in breach of your contract. Any payments on an event under the 2-week window must be in cash, especially when credit has been a complication. The owner did speak to you to explain the situation twice on the phone and then made himself available in person when you came into pay, to explain again. As in any business if a cost is incurred, due to the client, it is passed onto the client. This is basic business practice.3. You did place $1,000 on the bar for general consumption. This was for mixed drinks for 150 people. Mixed drinks start with well liquors at $6 & go up, the average price being $8, seltzers $6 & so forth. It does not take long to spend $1,000 when you have 150 guests drinking. Keep in mind your keg of Miller lite (180 glasses) & 100 glasses of house wine were already included in your package and not charged to your $1,000 dollars. The sign for $3 was an alternative keg that the owner tapped for you to give your guests a choice. It was tapped at no charge to you or your event and that is why that beer was $3 a glass. Your wedding coordinator will always make it a priority to inform whoever has placed the money on the bar how it is going. Photo time after your ceremony, before you enter your reception, if you are running on time is roughly 40 minutes of drinking time for 150 guests, which if averaged out at $8 a drink is only 62.5 drinks, not even factoring in sales tax. I hope this helps clarify things for you.
